Hello all! My sweet Charlie has awful cases of car sickness! Whenever we go to the vet or groomers, he always has a big vomit on our way home. Never on the way to our destination, but eight when we are about 5 minutes from home, he will start watering at the mouth and then he'll barf. Poor baby. He never Vomits otherwise. Any advice on what to give him? My other baby, Chunks, also had bouts of car sickness. The vet said to give dramamine. I'm considering doing this for Charlie, but didn't know if there was anything better?

Also, here's and updated pic of Mr. Charlie. He's getting to be a big boy! 6 months old and he is seriously one of my biggest loves!

It seems strange that he vomits on the way home but not on the way to the vets & groomers. Do they give him a treat or let him drink a bunch of water before the return trip? The only suggestion I have is for him to travel on an empty stomach. He is a handsome little guy!

I was going to suggest dramamine, we had to give it to our English which helped settle her nerves. Could just all be too much excitement-- trip there, the visit and then the ride home

Jax was and still is, just not as bad, the same way. He started getting car sick pretty much as soon as we got him. Then he started getting anxious just being in the car. My suggestions are to only travel with him on an empty stomach, have the window rolled down so he gets fresh air. If you don't have a car/booster seat, that might help so he can see out of the window. Dramamine is good for long distance rides but at least for Jax, it makes him groggy so I won't use it for short distances. Benadryl sometimes can help. You can try bringing him in the car when it is not running, have him just sitting in there, giving him treats so he associates it with good things.

While Jax is somewhat better, he will still vomit sometimes but his drooling has gotten better. Now he will usually just lay down in his seat. He still gets anxious about getting in the car. I lay towels down around the seat so if he does throw up, easy clean up.

I would try the Dramamine and see if it works. Plus being able to look out the window sometimes helps.
