Wow, I just learned that crating in Finland is actually illegal and person doing it can be prosecuted of animal cruelty!

For the past few days it has been wildly on the news here, since it has been discovered that some of the breeders are recommending crating to people buying a puppy.

According to our legislation crating is allowed only in short term in a situation for example when the vet has ordered temporary rest after operation or recovering from anesthesia and even in those cases the crate must be big enough.
Using show crates in dog shows and transport is ok when in show or while transport, but those models cannot be used in home conditions.

-Well, that was news to me and explains why I do not know anyone using crates here .... talking about differencies between every country.

What a shame for some here it is like a den a spot to get away from everyone and thing. My old boxer loved his crate and would push it around the house to where ever he wanted it like where ever the sun was shining. Odd it would be illegal there kinda like USA vs Canada gun laws

Well tell me about it! This is a typical example of Finland which is becoming a jungle of weird laws...there are just in past few years issued so many un-explainable laws and regulations that makes one head spinning.

What a strange law! Even when we stopped using the crate for our dogs they would still sleep in it. I found it helped a lot with training.

I bought a crate for Jax but he absolutely hated it. Now it just sits downstairs collecting dust.

Wow, learned something new today. Thanks for sharing.
