LOL. I've become a serial poster on this site! Didn't know I had so many concerns and questions! :)
I take Carrot to work with me but as she's still a puppy (8 months old) I feel like she needs some socialization with other dogs and she has some energy to burn. Thinking it would be good for her (and for me) if she goes to day care a couple of times a week. Here's my problem...I'm petrified of her over heating by playing too hard, being out in the sun too long, etc., etc. I feel like if the day care doesn't have experience with frenchies, they won't recognize if she's in distress. Carrot LOVES other dogs and is so sad whenever other dogs don't play with her. So, I know she'd love it. But I'm not positive she can self-regulate if she's getting too hot, panting too hard, etc.
Anyone else have experience taking their frenchies to daycare?

My girl Fiona is also 8 months old. She started daycare 2 weeks ago. She LOVES it. She loves playing with other dogs. We have 2 other dogs in our house but they are 9 and 11 years old. They don't want to play constantly with her. Right now, she goes 1 day a week. Our daycare has a video cam so I can check in on her. Some dogs don't want to play with her which is a good thing. Our daycare has Franchise as other clients so I think they get it. On Fiona's first day, she was put in a kennel for a little break.

I'm scared to take my dog to a doggie day care or kennel because she's not vaccinated against bordetella ( kennel cough ).

Every doggy daycare I have taken Radar to requires proof of current vaccinations, so if you don't have them all you can't take your puppy. I researched the daycare Radar goes to. It also has a video feed, misters, a waterfall and small pool as well as other Frenchies that go so they make sure he doesn't overheat or cause too much trouble. He is a Frenchie...

Beezy has gone to daycare twice a week since she was six months old. I know she plays super hard because she's exhausted when I pick her up after work, and she sleeps on the ride home and pretty much all evening. There's never been an issue with her overheating. They tell me that she will stop if she's tired. It's been a lifesaver for us. And you're absolutely right about the necessity for socialization. I think my girl's alpha dog personality would make dealing with other dogs a real challenge had she not been exposed to others from such an early age. As it is, we still have issues with some dogs, but they're much less of an issue than I think they would be otherwise.

There's no web cam where we go, which is probably good because I wouldn't get any work done, but I trust them to take good care of her. Have a discussion with the people at the place you're looking at. Let them know your concerns. Ask questions. If you don't get responses that makes you feel comfortable, keep looking for a place where you DO feel comfortable. I think I looked at three places before I found this one.

I don't trust them myself, so we never take ours there.

What is the weather like where you are? If it gets in the 80s and 90s and sunny, I would be careful. Like Honeys Owner said, I'd be careful to make sure Carrot has all her vaccinations. Sounds like you love her lots.

Is Carrot a fawn?

I'm scared to take my dog to a doggie day care or kennel because she's not vaccinated against bordetella ( kennel cough ).

Kennel cough never was a vaccine preventable disease. The bordetella vaccine is useless and only used by day care and pension facilities to avoid liability in case your dog becomes sick with kennel cough during a stay.

They ask your dog to be vaccinated for that reason only.

Jax loves going to daycare. They have multiple Frenchies that go as well as English Bulldogs. I've never felt uncomfortable leaving him there, and they all love him. On hot days, they play outside with the hose and pools and they smushed face dogs get a cooling bandana to wear. They are fully aware of the overheating issues of this breed. I've never had any issues.
