Hi frenchie community!

I just became curious if the family dinamics affect dog's personality. When we got Napoleon, he stayed with my brother's family for a month (when he was 3month old) before I was able to pick him up. My brother has two young boys under age of 5, both very active. Plus the cat. So, during that month Napoleon was very active, playful puppy (over playful, I would say). Now he moved in with us and turned into the couch potato. My kids are older and we are very quiet calm and busy family and looks like Napoleon adopted our dinamics. He is only 5 month old and I was expecting him running out and about all the time, but he is more like a cat now: eat, sleap, takes short 30-40 min very slow walks, likes to sit in cafe or in the middle of the street and just observe the people. I never had a dog before and was wondering if this normal? I thought puppy inherits his personality from parents.

What are your experience?

Buster is totally in to playing and is good at entertaining himself when his old man English brother wants to snooze instead of play. Your pup is adjusting to your household. I'd find some neighbor dogs and set up some play dates!

Buddy is full of energy needs to walks a day and is buzzing in evening. We have no young kids and have tried to keep him calm lol ...I think they have their own little personality from word go. Perhaps we could swap for a day ild love a calm one :) ha ha enjoy x

When Cheli is alone he does as you describe, but when Lambeau is in the room he is all about playing and wanting to be chased. It is not ALL the time, but at least for 20-30 mins a day

Nellie has her moments. She was crazy as a puppy well until six months. I have no kids in the household but my niece abs nephew do come by and she gets extra active but tires out easily. I was wondering the same because am very calm but sometimes she's crazier than a crack addict. She has two walks a day and a wallet who comes for a little over two hrs everyday. She is active but loves her snooze

A 5 month old pup, will usually want to play a lot. But it's hard to say if your pup is just bored, or maybe missing the other family who he stayed with for a month. I would say give him some time, and if he is just missing the other family, he will warm up to your family in his own time.
