Hey guys, I’m Frank and I have recently gotten a french bulldog puppy named Duke. (4 months old male)

This is my first frenchie so there will be a learning curve for me and the puppy. I’m here to try and gain some knowledge on the basics of getting him crate trained, food he should be eating, and his nightly whimpering while in the crate and we try to sleep. Also any little advice and tips/tricks I should know.

Thank you all in advance and can’t wait to be apart of this great community.

Welcome to FBN !! What a great looking little boy love those ears

For at night with the whimpering keep in mind he can only hold his bladder for one hour more than he is months old. so at four months old for an a half hours is probably your limit so set your alarm clock otherwise put a T-shirt in there that has your scent on it to help him sleep.

What are you currently feeding brand and protein?

Yea I’ve been setting my alarm for every 3 hours at night to keep it on the safe side. Hopefully that also teaches him that outside is the place to do business.

As for food, I’m feeding him Holistic Health Extensions. I was told this is what he’s been eating (since I got him from a pet shop, and that what the have been feeding him). Should there be something different on the menu for him instead?

It is a four star food per dog food advisor so if no issues let him stay on it

Welcome to you both!
Just know that potty training takes time. Even when you think you're all done, you could have a setback or two. My best advice is to get on a reliable feeding and potty routine (same times of day every day) and don't be surprised if you have to revisit potty training from time to time. Accidents happen, just take a deep breath. I'm a huge believer in the hard work that you put in now, will pay off big time because you will have a dog that is confident and knows what to expect. You will be sleep deprived now, but I promise it won't last forever.

Good luck :)
