Environmental allergies

Rootbeer has some environmental allergies. His eyes have been red and extra teary lately and now his nose is runny. Benadryl has never seemed to work for him. Has anyone had any luck with Zyrtec or Claritin?

Jax has environmental allergies as well. Unfortunately, they were getting so bad and nothing was helping that he is now getting allergy shots and takes Apoquel once a day. Eventually, the goal is for him to stop the Apoquel once the allergy shots begin to "kick in" which can take several months.

Several users have used Zyrtec with success. We have never used it, as ours do not have bad allergies. Some other users will be along soon.

We use Zyrtec on one of our Labs with good success. If you want to try it I would give 1/2 of a 10mg once a day for a week or so to see the effect.

I've never used Zyrtec, only benedryl on occasion. I try to keep immune system boosted with good food and supplements. Also if any if my bullies get the itches I bath them with Pharmaseb shampoo and it seems to stop them from itching completely. I get it from all vet supply .com

Yogurt for probiotics, oil (like coconut or salmon) are also great for the skin and coat

He really doesn't get itchy. Its his eyes and nose it seems to effect. Itchy, red, watery eyes and runny nose.
