Hi,

Dexter is 10wks old, his ears are still floppy. When did your frenchie's ears stick up? Should I be worried they won't change. And if they don't is it a problem?

Thank you

davidh might be able to give some insight on the ears.

i am partial to floppy ears so they are perfect to me :D We got Cheli at 8 mths old so his were fully up....

I do like his floppy ears, but heard that they will be more prone to infection. Not sure of this is right or not. X

He looks adorable as he is with his floppy ears  They can still pop up though. He is still so young.
By the way, what food you are giving him? Sometimes that could also have effect on the ears, meaning securing proper and good quality protein supply etc during puppyhood.

It is also not unheard of that for example during teething ears can flop and then go back up again :)

I have not heard on any correlation with floppy ears and infections.

My dog is a retired breeder. Her litters ears were up by about 4 weeks.

My pups ears curled backwards during teething.

They may just stay floppy, or when he's done teething they may perk up.

Did other pups in his litter have upright ears? :)

He's super cute, though!!

Our pups have always had their ears up by week 5. I have seen others take longer. Give them a few weeks and they should be up. If they don't come up it's no problem since you are not showing him. You just need to keep them clean and watch for infection, as they can get infections a little easier, but not much.

Wally's ears were up when we got him at 8 weeks old. They should pop up in a week or two, but he's damn adorable with floppy ears.

I picked up Bentley at 5 weeks and I met him about a week and a half before that. So about 3.5 to 4 weeks and his ears were already up. Breeder says all their litters usually have them up before 3 weeks of age.
This does vary from what I've heard though and have seen puppys pop their ears close to 3 months.

Thats a little off topic, but you picked him up at 5 weeks  Did the breeder specify why he takes them away so early?

When I first visited Maple and her litter mates they were 5 weeks old and all but 2 had their ears up, but the tips were still a little weak.
I would just give it a little bit more time ;)

He had already switched off mothers milk, had his first vet visit and his balls has started to drop and the vet said it would be fine as long as the home he was going to was caring. Which the breeder knew I would take good care. So it worked out.
I'm glad I did as well. That extra time was great for bonding.

I feed him Wainwrights dry puppy food. The breeder had him on Royal canine, which they do sell at our vets. When he went for his second vaccination the vet asked what I was giving him and replied she feeds her dogs Wainwrights too.

There was only him & his sister left, her ears were up and the breeder said they had gone up ove a 2 day period. His right ear is looking higher today, less floppy so maybe they are starting. Got some ear cleaner as advised by the vet as his ears were a little mucky when we got him.

I'll try and get a picture, he's just having 'crate time' (well in his room anyway )

We got Banksy at 8 weeks old and his ears were up

Sorry to continue on with the off topic-topic lol but your dogs balls dropped at 5 weeks old?! I have never heard of that happening so young before!

Banksy has been my first dog though so I have not done extensive research on the topic
