My 10 month old Frenchie has blood that drips after he has a BM. Has anyone else encountered this with their Frenchie?

Hmmm could be lots of reasons. Do his bowel movements look normal? Other than the blood, I mean. Does he scoot his rear on the floor? What does he eat? Is the blood bright red?

Could be a parasite. That happened to my puppy.

But there could also be many other things going on too.

I'd say first things first is to take a stool sample to the vet.

Tgirl has asked some good questions, and I would like to know the answers as well, to try and figure out what it could be. As she said, it could be a lot of things causing it.

I know a frenchie who had this for months and months. No other problems, everything else normal. It turned out that food was the culprit. He eats raw now and hasn't had an issue since. Exploring different food options (protein sensitivities, grain issues, etc.) could be a good starting point.

agreed .... get to the vet and have him checked -- be sure to ask the vet to include a giardia test

I agree that a vet exam is in order. He/she will be able to determine the culprit and provide you with the proper course of medicine/treatment.

Does this happen regularly? If so, I'd take it to the vet.

I've had my male have bright red blood come out right after a BM, but it only happened once, so I just chalked it up to all of the bark mulch he's chewing on outside, and something probably scraped him on the way out. ;)

Just keep an eye on it. But I agree, if this is a regular thing, get it checked out.
