I am in the process of prchasing a puppy from puppy spot . after her vet. check before shipment they informed me she has stenotic nares is this a reason not to purchase and is it expensive to correct if i do purchase because i really like the puppy.

Stenotic nares is part of the brachycephalic syndrome of short-nosed dogs. Bulldog breed is born with it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The only reason not to buy a French bulldog is if you can't stand snoring.

Unless you can meet the pup and patents... i would not buy online.... as stated above it is very common with the breed

As we all know, Frenchies are an expensive breed to care for!
The stenotic nares surgery itself isn't terribly expensive, but many Frenchies, as well as other brachycephalic breeds have elongated soft palates that must be reduced. The palate surgery can be very expensive, particularly when performed by a board-certified surgeon, and it can be risky. I spent about $2200 last year on nares/soft palate surgery for my Frenchie. In addition, many have sensitive stomachs and suffer from various allergies.

I haven't heard of Puppy Spot before, but it sounds like an online source to buy dogs. It is never recommended to buy a puppy without having the opportunity to view the parents and their environment. You will want to examine the overall condition of the parents, including their temperament, as well as the puppy's. How would one know if the puppy is coming from a puppy mill or similar commercial breeding operation? I hope you are close enough to go in person to get the puppy. Best wishes!

In my opinion, the breeder should fix the problem, and not pass the problem and expense on to you. These people are a broker, and do sell unhealthy pups from time to time, mostly from puppy mills. I would never buy a pup from them, and wish they would go out of business, along with the puppy mills.

As previously advised, do not buy from an online puppy sales site unless you get to meet the puppy, the parents and the breeder. The up front price may be "right" but you could end up putting a lot more money in to vet bills; that is very stressful for the pup and you!
