hey guys,
just wondering what everyone thinks. Is it normal for a 6 month frenchie to vomit every so often. MY frenchie seems to throw up ever so often. He's a pretty healthy boy, consistent with his eating and water consumption. What I do notice is that he plays a lot after eating, perhaps thats causes the vomiting. Also, it has happened when introducing dental treats. the cheaper ones. Might need to stick to the fewer ingredient ones.

My dog throws up occasionally after I switched her to frozen raw, but even before that she would occasionally throw up, especially if she ate some grass, or was too active. Things you can try include raised dog food bowls, mixing in some water with the food to slow down the eating, and some people on this group like the Enhanced Pet bowl.

If she dry heaves as opposed to throwing up, it's probably due to an empty stomach and you may need to give more food with your two meals or give smaller meals more frequently.

Gus will regurgitate some of his food if he is too active after eating or gets over-excited and is breathing really heavily. It's gotten much better since his palate reduction surgery. I use the Enhanced Pet Bowl that Honeys Owners mentioned above. I've also found that it helped to let his raw food sit out for a little bit, so it isn't so cold when I serve it.

Not sure if it would be related to the dental treats, or not. I do not give them because they typically are made up mostly of starch, which turns into sugar. I don't believe that is good for teeth. Plus, some have questionable ingredients, even if you aren't opposed to feeding starches.

Thanks for the bowl recommendation. My Frenchie also likes to eat lots of grass.

I think I also agree with you on the starch not being good for the dog.

We stick to whole foods only for treats (Stan loves pumpkin and string cheese!) and we use the Enhanced pet bowl with a bit of water in his food to slow him down. If he eats to quick, runs a lot, or gets overexcited, drinks too much water, he will regurgitate right back up. Hoping our palate surgery will ease some of our troubles! You might want to consider a palate consult if it happens more frequently as he gets older.

I like to thaw out Honey's frozen raw food for about 24 hr in fridge, then add a bit of microwaved water to it as I serve it, to make it into a stew.

No, it is not normal and you should get this addressed soon. You need to determine if it is vomiting or reguritation. Is My Dog Vomiting or Regurgitating?

Soft palette & nare surgey can potentially help regurgitation. It completely solved regurgitation for my 11 month old frenchie, and he breathes much better and snores less.

IT has happened for a while now. I think it had to do with him playing and running around after eating.
