Hi, Im Mathew & this is my little boy Chester :)

Im Batman.jpg

We live in Aberdeen, Scotland so have no issued with heat stroke etc! however we are planning a Chester holiday going to west coast of France to Verdee we will be driving.

The average temperates during our visit are to be around 15 - 20 degree celcius during the day and a good bit cooler during the night. We will be staying in a permanent tent, comes with power fridge etc etc. My concern is how will chester handle these temperatures? We plan to take along a children's paddling pool to let Chester pop in and out of to aid cooling... we will however have no air con which worries me a little...

I have read up a lot on-line but i can't see anywhere that determines "hot" how hot is hot!?

Was looking to see other peoples opinion on this?

Thanks
Mathew & Chester

I think it would depend on the environment they are used to. How are the temps usually in Aberdeen? I'm in Toronto, Canada and our summers can get hot with tons of humidity, around 35C with humidity. I think he should be fine with 15-20C, just keep an eye on him during the day. Both my dogs love to lie out in the sun so I have to closely monitor them so they don't over heat. All walks on hot days are early in the morning and later on at night when it's cooler. A kiddie pool will definitely help.

I am sorry, i don't know how to convert C to degrees. Like Squishy Walnuts said don't have Chester playing hard or exercising in the heat of the day! The pool is a great idea!

Welcome Mathew and Chester. He is adorable. I agree that the kiddie pool is a great idea. So 20 degrees celsius is 68 degrees fahrenheit, which I do not consider hot for my dogs. Once it reaches 80 degrees fahrenheit they are walked early in the morning and at sunset. I would just keep an eye on him and he should be fine. Have a great trip.

20 deg C is 68 deg F, so that isn't hot, it's actually just right for them. In fact at night if it gets below 10 deg C it may be a little too cool for them. Here in the summer time it gets hot outside, 90 to 95 deg F. and we keep our house at 77 deg. F which is 25 deg C. and they are fine, because we run ceiling fans all the time.

Sounds like a great trip you have planned! No matter the temperature, if he's running around a lot you'll want to keep an eye on him to make sure he's breathing alright. Our Bisou loves to zip around and can get winded quickly even if it's not hot out. The temperature shouldn't be a problem at all. We take our girls out to the desert all the time, where it's around 37ºC in the summer, but we just make sure to keep them in the shade and with plenty of water and don't over-exert them too much. You've got one handsome boy, he'll do great!
