I cam across a breeder selling frenchie/Boston terrier mix puppies. Would anyone buy this mix or stick to buying a purebred from a breeder?

That is totally up to you. Why did they mix those two? A mistake I hope and not on purpose. Either way, they should be cheap in price.

I've seen them around here, referred to as "frenchtons." Many are 3/4 Frenchie, 1/4 Boston. They are generally much cheaper than purebred frenchies and from what I have heard they tend to be higher energy and more active (from their Boston side!). I think if you are considering one you should try to meet an adult and figure out if you like their style of personality (though every dog is different). Personally I would stick to purebred but everyone is different and you may like the mix!

I just got a mix and he's been amazing! The vet and breeder both said they'll have fewer breathing issues, less hip/spine problems because they are a little taller. All depends on parents but I'm super happy with mine. He's got great energy but when it's chill time he's easy going, loves fetch and swimming, powerful jumper makes running and playing outside lots of fun! image.webp

Yes I have heard of Frenchtons. I think that choice is totally up to you, but would love to hear about what you decide and why.

Anne, Gidget, Olivia and Wilson in VA.

this is the same that I know too... never met one, but heard they are BUNDLE of energy

I know someone who has 2 Frenchtons and he loves them. I find his dogs to be a bit odd looking though but it could be the breeder, and as far as I know they don't have any more health issues than a full bred Frenchie or Boston and they are super friendly.

They will have a lot more energy for those who are used to only a Frenchie but I don't find my Boston's energy level to be extreme. She is a hell of a lot smarter and quicker than my Frenchie. Not that Wally is dumb, but he is slow. :D

My Buster is a breeder error; his mama is an OEB and his dad is a sneaky Frenchie! I couldn't love him more, he is a delightful little man!

Well, I'm a HUGE proponent of adoption through rescues and shelters, but if I was going to buy a puppy, I'd choose a known reputable breeder. I don't think people who breed different breeds together are considered reputable. If you go to the French Bulldog Rescue Network's website, choose the Facts & Info tab, and scroll down about half way down- it gives some good tips about breeders.
I read an article once (sure wish I bookmarked it) that mixing breeds does not guarantee a healthier dog. The puppy can pick up positive or negative traits of either parent (say, the tendency for spinal issues from the Frenchie side, as an example) instead of only positive traits from both breeds as many people would think.
Puppies are hard to resist no matter what, and Frenchie/Boston mix puppies are no exception! If one showed up on my doorstep with a big bow around it's neck, I know I couldn't say no!
