Fromm Puppy Gold— how much should he eat?

Alright so here's an update. I think this is just too much for him (and me)... LOL the feta cheese worked great for a few meals... But now, he has slowed down again and isn't loving the feta. Also, I think it's too much for him... He had lunch today (with the feta) he ate 38 grams of food so that's a little over an ounce... Went on our walk—peed outside... Came home played for a little bit... And he puked! Haha.

Ok so here's my next question. Should I start cooking instead? If so, what vitamin additives do you recommend? There are a ton to choose from but none that are "puppy specific".

Ugh now if you excuse me I have to go light 50 candles to get the smell of puked up dog food and feta out of my nose.

If you want to cook there are freeze dried base/pre mix options you can use and then add your own protein. Check out The Honest Kitchen, Grandma Lucy's and Sojos.

Here's a little update... Rico is still Mr. Picky... I wish I could be as picky as him... lol

My homemade sweet potato chicken topper is still a success but I want to try to keep his food "dryer" to eventually get him eating only kibble...

Tried minced boiled chicken alone with some Parmesan cheese... Success he eats it all BUT AGAIN IM LEFT TO HAVING TO COOK...lol

Tried Fromm duckenpeffer (butchered that name)... HATED IT!

Fromm surf and turf... HATED IT!

Fromm pork and peas... HATED IT!

And today I had a bright idea of letting him do a blind taste test...

So I put out 1/4 cup each of Fromm Chicken and Orijen Puppy...

He liked them both! So I'm keeping my fingers crossed until dinner time to see if he will eat a whole serving of Fromm Chicken without any toppers.

Here he is taste testing.

So another update... Mr Picky is back in full force lol... I blame my dad! I was away on a business trip for a week while he stayed with my dad....and my dad is one of these soft hearted, let a dog be a dog kind of people who can't fathom the use of a crate and views it as cruel LOL he's also a "free feeder" and a table food giver... I warned him that if he didn't follow my rules, his puppy grandpa card would be revoked....

Well... He didn't follow my rules hahaha. So who knows what he was feeding Rico... Point is, even my secret recipe meal topper won't work anymore! He barely ate 3 bites all day yesterday...

In a panic, I ran out and bought some honest kitchen knowing he loves boiled chicken... And I made a batch of it... Side note... Your dogs really eat that stuff? I was gagging making it! It's so soupy and chlorophyll smelling! Anyway... The monster refused to eat it! (I secretly don't blame him hahaha)... So I let him sleep without eating.... Hoping he would be good and hungry this morning.

Today I stir fried some chicken gizzards and chicken breasts... Tossed it with his Fromm four star and a little Parmesan cheese.... He ate....

I don't have kids, but I can only imagine how it would drive me insane if a kid was as picky as this dog is!!!

May I ask if you ever tried raw and if you never did or don't want to, why?

I have not tried raw....only reason I haven't is because I travel frequently for work, I will be taking my dog with me when I travel, but I won't always have the ability to fly with raw meat, and or have access to the supplies I need to prepare his raw meals when I am traveling.

The thought of a raw diet really intrigues me and it's something I am open to.... I just am trying to avoid going down that road, unless all my other options have been exhausted.

However, if all else fails, it may be something I will consider in greater detail.

Can't wait to read your essay on the joys of business traveling with an iPhone, an iPad, minimalist clothing in your carry-on, Rico and a sturdy stainless-steel meat grinder powerful enough to swallow whole chickens in your otherwise peaceful hotel room ;)

Hahahaha Hahahaha you literally made me LAUGH OUT LOUD lol. I'm saying.... Does hervé know me or something?! Lol

I don't know you, but as new frenchie parent myself, I have been reading your posts carefully enough. You careful, detail-oriented approach is also very much like mine—facts, consistency, trial and error, etc... So I was immediately able to form that mental image of you in a comfy hotel room with your sweet Rico and that meat grinder from hell :) as for the Apple products, I just can't picture you using a Samsung tablet LOL
