My 2 year old male had gallstone removed and wonder if its the high protein in the Fromm dog food. He has sensitive stomach and don't know what to switch to.

Maybe try something with limited ingredients, like Instinct Limited Ingredient or The Honest Kitchen Limited Ingredient.

Did your vet say that your pup's gallstones were related to a high protein diet? I wasn't aware that there was a correlation, but was thinking more about the sensitive tummy issues.

Our vet warned us about possible problems from feeding food that is too high in protein. We feed Nature's Variety Instinct Limited ingredient because our English Bulldog has many food allergies. A good food that is lower in protein is Canidae (probably spelled wrong).

Not all Fromm is high in protein. Zignature is also a limited ingredient food that is "low" in protein.

I would argue you are better off with a high protein low fat diet. I've never heard that high protein diet causes gallstones.

it seems several articles refer to the high protein as being an issue but one really thorough article says it's a myth. Not sure how a low fat will work for him, he skips a lot of breakfasts and is 2 years old today and weighs 22 pounds which he definitely is trim looking. thanks for the info, seeing vet on monday to get staples out and wanted to learn as much as I can about the food because i don't want to go the prescription dog good route!
