Hi all,

We currently have a 6 month old frenchie (vivienne) We have just been to view and buy another one. The frenchie we have at the minute sleeps in our bedroom on the floor. What would you suggest when the new one arrives? Also we put vivienne in the crate when we go out...Would you suggest to put them in the crate together?

Hi! I'm new here, but I do know dogs. I would definitely NOT put them in a crate together. Way too many dangerous things could happen if the dogs cannot get away to be by themselves, especially if one is an adult and one is a small puppy. It's not worth saving the time/space.

I think a separate crate for resting time for your new pup is an excellent idea. Any time you cannot closely supervise or go out of the house, use the crate for your puppy. Maybe have the crate in your bedroom as well, as long as that does not prove to increase the puppy's anxiety (some puppies might need to be in a different room to really "get" that it is rest/quiet time) but that all depends on the pup. :) Best of luck!

I agree to have separate crates for them. Just the safest solution for both pups. When we brought our puppies home we used an xpen with a crate inside of it. They used a pee pad if they had to go in the middle of the night and we kept the crate door open until I knew they could hold it all night. Now they both sleep in bed with us!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! We always have a crate for each dog, that way they have their own space if they want.

Welcome! Agreed, separate crates is a must
