Hello, my name is Kristine and I am a new member.
We have a 7 year old Frenchie. We adopted her 2 years ago. We recently moved from the east side of Florida to the west side of Florida.
Around 4-6 months ago, our baby started having bloody mucus in her poop and now it's very red blood when we wipe her bum. She has had no diarrhea until yesterday. She really has no poop coming out, but still has the urge to go.
When we first got here and established her with a vet, they prescribed her on Royal Canin SO Urinary food for better control of bladder infections and/or stones. (She never had that this whole time until last month). She is on Apoquel and this vet added a thyroid pill 2x daily.
Her blood no matter what we try is getting bad. She doesn't leak it but when she poops it's alot!
I've been getting bloodwork and urinalysis every six months and up until now she has never had a bladder infection. They gave us antibiotics, that were huge, but she still has the infection, so they just did a culture, hopefully results will come this week. Also, we are waiting on results for Addisons disease. Hopefully tomorrow we will have the results for the ultrasound she had on Friday. We did a poop test, sent poop to University of Michigan to check for ecoli, salmonella, etc. She's been tested for parasites, Giardia, bloodwork has been done, they say they do not believe it to be colitis. We also had an X-ray. So far there are no answers.
Has anyone had an issue like this? We love this little girl so much!! I was thinking maybe it's the food? Before this vet, we had her on high end limited ingredient food and had no problems. Recently we are just giving her chicken and rice with some of her wet food mixed with it.
Thank you for reading. Any advice or knowledge is greatly appreciated.
