Get to know the breeder and make sure they breed for health and temperament. Look at their kennels and meet their breeding dogs. Talk with people who have bought their pups. If you get any red flags look for another breeder!
I agree with Alice Kable get to know them and do your homework. Go to dog shows and talk to the show breeders, they breed to the FBDCA standards and will have some goo bloodlines. They may know of other breeders who have good pups as well. Stay with the standard colors, and not the "rare or exotic" colors, as they can have more health issues than a regular Franchie. Make sure they let you see their kennel and the dam. Sometimes they will not have the sire on hand, but should have pics of him and his owners info so you can talk to them as well. Talk to their vet and see if he thinks they are a reputable breeder and no health issues. You can also put some pics of your pup you might be considering on here and we will take a look also. Have fun and take your time getting one, As the old saying goes, if something just doesn't feel right, move on.
