Help please my baby frenchie (Gaston) is very ill

Hi. I have just joined the forum in order to try and get some help and advice on my beautiful boy Gaston.

He is 7 months old and was being sick everyday so took him to the vet. The vet carried out an X-Ray and an ECG and turns out he has an enlarged heart, bent spine, hernia and megasophagus.

The vet has advised me that he can now only eat/drink food that has been in the blender as anything larger gets stuck and he regurgitates it and gets no nutrition from anything, thus resulting in losing weight.

He also is having tablets for his heart twice a day along with a tablet to stop him being sick.

Has anyone had any experience with this and what is the best thing to do?? He is still being sick on his liquid food diet and is losing weight still.

I'm so sorry Rob!!! This is what I was so afraid of when looking for a Frenchie for my daughter. My friends dog has to be on a liquid diet and she uses Honest Kitchen, her dog loves it. Also what did the vet say about the bent spine, will he have problems as he gets bigger? I feel so bad for your little Gaston, it breaks my heart. If you bought him from a breeder please make sure you put the word out so they will quit breeding sick puppies.

Welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear about Gaston! Megasophagus is a hard one...may I ask what anti nausea drug they gave him? My Frenchie recently had a stomach issue and to stop the vomiting, they gave her a tablet called Cerenia. It worked wonders!

So sorry for your sick pup, unfortunately I have no experience with this. This is why I hate backyard breeders who do not pay close attention to genetics, and just breed anything.

For the Mega E eating upright helps and burping them like a baby afterwards I have heard.

That sounds horrible. Poor little Gaston! Such a big name! I'm sure he will pull through.
