So I am new to this forum and wanted to say hi to everyone. I am the proud new mother of a Brindle/Pied Frenchie. He's 16 weeks old now. A couple of days ago I found what looked like ringworm. Went to the vet yesterday and he confirmed it was ringworm but went ahead with doing a scrape test to make sure it isn't something else like mange. Anyone else have to deal with this? I'm so itchy just writting this! Any advice would be great! So far I decided to steam mop the entire house every couple of days to kill spores that he sheds up until a couple weeks after his treatment is done. The Vet gave me the trifecta of care (antifungal oral meds, antifungal lotion and antifungal shampoo). How long until I can see improvements on my lil guy? I feel so bad because we can't cuddle with him as much and he can sense our distance. Ringworm sucks! So far we haven't gotten it from Morty yet....I'm so paranoid to get it haha. I tried to attach a photo of what I initially saw on him

Poor little guy, don't feel bad, as it will go away soon. We have never had to deal with this with any of out dogs, but I remember when we were kids getting them sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it that much, you can temporarily cover it when you want to snuggle with him, so he won't feel left out, as Frenchies need their lovin'. Let us know how it goes.

Poor little fella... hope it clears up fast for you all. I have never dealt with it either.

:welcome3: to FBN

A barn cat we rescued had ringworm. Keep up with the meds and washing everything as instructed in hot water. Poor little guy. I'd let the breeder know.

:smileywelcome:

I don't think any of my animals have ever had ringworm, but I did last year (?).

So I still live in fear with surfaces that may have fungus spores on them in between cleaning days. I must say that my love for Morty has made me continue to snuggle with him after a day of trying to withhold myself so I wouldn't get infected. I just make sure I don't directly touch his lesion and wash my hands afterwards. I got the house cleaning routine down so well that I look forward to them now as piece of mind! His lesion is 5 days into treatment and looks worse. It probably gets worse before it gets better when it comes to animals. I remember getting it in middle school and saw it go away after 3 days! Maybe this thread will be helpful to someone one day if they are not so sure what that mysterious red patch is on their animal. Thanks to all of your replies. It makes me feel better to see the support haha.image.webp

Welcome to the site! Hopefully his ringworm will clear up soon! Poor baby. Would love to see more pics of your cute pied boy!! :)

Update:
I started using a combination of Athlete foot cream and Sulfodene 3-way ointments in Morty's ringworm and finally saw it improve! My coworker said I jinxed her and her brothers dog that she takes care of came to her with ringworm. She used the ointment and bragged how it was going away just after 2 days of use. I was jealous of her results so I decided to listen to her and get the ointment. Who knew that his stuff would help heal Morty faster than what the doctor ordered me to put on him. His foot was so inflamed I was ready to take him to a dermatologist to get it checked. But after only a few days of the ointment, the redness has improved dramatically and the area is not raised as much. Just a couple days ago it looked like it was about to bleed so I know the ointment really is helping him heal better. I should have posted the picture where it was looking really bad so you all could see a comparison and the difference within days image.webp

Looks like a huge improvement already. You could get a pair of toddler socks to put on him for cuddle time too.
