Hello everyone

I am Claire and I have a wonderful little fawn, 7 month old FB named Louis Roederer (Louie). We live in Queensland, Australia.

Louis doesn't seem to eat much and he's a bit slimmer than other FBs his age. Mum is 12kgs and Dad is 13kgs, so I'm definitely after some advice to help him. He seems to have a sensitive digestion system. He recently had Pancreatitis from having little bits of cheese as a treat (I think?!?).

We are looking forward to learning as much as we can!

Kindly
Claire.

Welcome to you and Louie! We'd love see pictures of your baby.

What are you feeding and how much?

:welcome3: to FBN!

I know selections in Australia are limited so I'm tagging Julie... she may have some suggestions

:smileywelcome: to you and Louie! Our buster isn't food driven either. Sometimes we have to hand feed him some kibble to get him started. Putting a topper of easy to digest canned food on his meal may help get him interested.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!

Louis is eating Hill's Prescription Diet I/d since his Pancreatitis. He has 3/4 cup morning and night. We just started Protexin Paste too. Sometimes I have to hand feed him! He seems to have a very sensitive digestion system. He is neatly 8 months now and weighs 10.7kgs.

I'll try to post a photo ... IMG_9525.jpg

Oh, he is a cutie!

Hill is not the best food to feed. And I'm not sure why giving a little bit of cheese would cause the pancreatitis. I would try a better quality food. A dehydrated raw food might be good for him. A couple brands would be The Honest Kitchen, Grandma Lucy's, Sojos. You just hydrate it and feed, pretty simple.

Hi Claire, probiotics. It aids the gut and helps with digestion. Also enzymes. See if you can get a hold of a magazine called Dogs Naturally. it is available online and comes out 6 times a year.

Yes, I agree, a different food might be good! Ziwi Peak is another good one that's made in NZ. That's wot I use to transition my puppies from kibble to raw. A girlfriend of mine works in a petstore that sells raw and kibble based foods and always rolls her eyeballs into the back of her head when customers ask her wot the best kibble is. We as owners often times don't know and we all want the best for our fur babies. Knowledge is power!!!
