Hi Everyone!
My frenchie Remy is 11 months and will be doing the whole dog show thing soon. Recently, several handlers told me that he needs to lose weight. He is a shorter, stockier bully and is right at 25 lbs. I was feeding him 1/2 c Fromm puppy food in the morning and the same at night and one capsule of salmon oil with each meal for his skin. It has been suggested to give him green beans to cut down on his calories and help lose weight. Has anyone done this? Is there a food I should change him to now that he is almost a year old that maybe has less calories? Any other suggestions on how to handle this?

Thanks yall!

Puppy food generally has more calories so you can definitely change over to an adult food or an all life stages food. Fromm has several different all life stage formulas you can try. So I think I would try that first to see if he loses any weight. And yes, some people do add in green beans to help keep them full without the added calories. Fresh green beans that are steamed are better than canned. If you can't do fresh, do frozen.

Perfect advice!!

You can switch to adult anytime after 6 months when feeding a high quality food

As others have said, take him off puppy food and switch to adult, then feed just a little less food until he gets the weight off. You can give green beans if you wish, it won't hurt anything, but not necessary.
