I am debating about neutering my Frenchie

Oh ok. I misread then :p
I'd wait as long as possible. If you can wait until 18 mths, awesome. If he is constantly humping at 1 year, get it done then. It really depends on each person and the individual dog, but the longer you can wait, the better ;)

Okay. Yeah I think we might cancel the appointment and see how the next few weeks go.

He just will not leave her alone! Constantly on her case. She is always yelling at him to go away because hes way bigger than her right now, so her voice is her only defence mechanism lol. hmmm:whew:

behavior issue could be solved by training.
desexing you dog just make it easier to achieve the goal but risking its health

I never had this issue with Wally but do your best to distract him with his favorite toys/treats/chews when he tries to hump his little sister. I know it's not easy, damn stubborn Frenchies.

I would not be neutering him to make it easier. Just explaining how things have been.
We are required to neuter him regardless, it's in our sales contract.
Just trying to decide when the appropriate time is especially now that we have a little girl.

you mean a frenchie girl or a human girl?
one of my human family member has to remove the sex organ and drugs are required to be taken regularly in order to maintain the hormones level. without drugs, the body has some bad reactions, like cannot sleep well, sweating for no reasons.
I think it actually happens to animals, but animals can tolerate much pain than human does, and they do not how to express their bad feelings. thus, humans thinks they stay fine after neutering.
last but no least that mentioned in the article, organs are born for a purpose.

A frenchie girl. We have two dogs now. The boy is 10 months and the girl is 10 weeks.
Im not sure we are on the same page, but thanks for the input!

Hello guys, wanted to start this topic again because of my situation. I would love some advice from everyone! (without starting another thread)

Banksy is 10 months old
Aiko is 12 weeks old

We planned on waiting until Banksy was over 1 year to get him neutered. But now with our baby girl... he wont leave her alone. Tries to mount her. and is just constantly on her case.

We are working really hard to just correct these things on our own, and he is a good dog so we have confidence in him.. but do you guys think neutering should happen sooner than later anyway now that we have a little girl in the home?

Thoughts?

Frankie is 14 months. He goes to doggy daycare and was told intact males can't go out with the group. He loves his daycare and ao do I. Trying to hold out as long as I can. He doesn't have any issues with having his manlihood! 😃

Banksys appointment to get neutered was today.... he's 11 months old

We cancelled it this morning (the vet probably thinks we are crazy - this is the second time we have cancelled)

We have decided to wait until and get it done sometime between 1 and 2

PHEWW I never thought decisions like this would be this hard to make

we have to get banksy neutered, it's a part of our sales contract. but I will wait for as long as possible because research says that is the best for his health :)

It's just the worst, isn't it!!! I was sooooo worried the whole time Dexter was having his operations!

It's just because we love them so much we dread anything happening to them. But when the time comes I'm sure your vet will take the best care of him because they know they're our hairy babies :)

Isn't that the truth! I do worry too much though I will admit. But knowing I do probably won't stop me from doing so... they are totally my babies.

Our vets recommend waiting until age one as the added testosterone can help bone growth. Unless you plan to breed, neutering is a good idea of overall health and longevity.

If you do plan to breed you should wait until they are older to make sure they don't have any health issues that they could pass on - genetic health problems are quite common (sadly) with Frenchies.
