Has anyone ever gone through all the steps to get their babe service certified and had them fly in cabin with you? We have a few friends who regularly fly (even internationally) with their dogs (Pom and a Lab) and they have nothing but good things to say about it.
I know all the steps and requirements and what not, I'm just curious to hear more first had experiences?
I'm hoping Finley will be certified and ready to fly for a short flight back to my hometown by Christmas!

My boyfriend picked up our dogs in Detroit! And they flew with my boyfriend in the plane. They were puppies though so all we needed was a health certificate! He said they were totally fine and slept the whole way.

I don't think I could bring Banksy on a plane at the age he is now he is way too high strung lol! I think Aiko would be fine. She is pretty calm

I don't have personal experience flying with my pets. I just know that you can fly with your pet in the cabin on Delta as long as it fits in a kennel under the seat in front of you. It doesn't have to be a service animal.

Yup and it's $100 to add a pet to the flight

Yep! But if I get him certified than he dosent even have to be crated he can just sit on my lap! I saw this trend starting a few years back and I love it!

Please do not take advantage of this. It is not a trend. It is meant to be for emotional service dogs supporting people with emotional/psychological disorders.

I am sorry but I dont agree with people wanting to 'abuse' this just so their dog can fly for free and on their lap.
Find a good pet sitter or leave your dog with friends when you go on vacation. Or take the car & drive.

This is interesting.

In the UK - with the exception of service dogs - no animal is allowed to travel in the cabin of a plane departing or entering the UK. We have a Pet Passport system now though that allows you to travel within Europe via ferry and not have to quarantine your pet when you come back into the UK.

It would be nice to be able to have a bit more flexibility on this, so if we fancied a weekend in London, a 90 minute flight would be better than 10+ hour car journey. But I think that we as animal lovers may sometimes forget that others don't necessarily have the love that we have for our pets (fears, allergies, generally dont want a dog near them) and they should always be in appropriate carriers under the seat. I think it's just responsible dog / pet ownership.

I flew London to Houston once with a Guide Dog for the Blind on the plane. It was an angel! Wonderful dog. The pilot asked us to remain seated when we landed and let the dog off first, as it doesn't have access to the bathroom like we do! I bet it was pleased to see that tarmac after 10 hours :)

100% agree

When looking for a breeder recently, I enquired about the average size of the sire and dam because I wanted to be able to fly with my Frenchie. The breeder said, "Oh don't worry about that. My Frenchies regularly fly from coast to coast in cabin. All you have to do is get a "certificate" as an emotional support dog, and they HAVE to let them fly- for FREE!" This disgraceful comment came from an AKC breeder who was ALSO a Veteranarian!!! I ran for the hills! I have NEVER heard of something so unethical in my life! I am a registered nurse, this idea is appaling! It's right up there with people who dress as Military Vets ( called STOLEN VALOR) to get perks from restaurants, airlines and kind patriots willing to buy their meals!
Folks, it's deceptive and it's theft of services. We don't want this kind of reputation as dog lovers. In my humble opinion.

I find it offensive as well. I am currently in the process of applying to train a service puppy so I completely disagree with people that abuse the system.
