Hello to all the other 'squishy, snorting, snoring, sassy pants' loving   Frenchie   owners out there.

I'm new to the bulldog breed and my 14 week girl is giving me a run for my money. Between her *not* going potty on her puppy pad... :poo: and eating everything other than her toys, she is a complete handful... literally.

I have so many questions between toenail trimming, potty training, *open-crossed fingers* she gets along with my 2 year old Bengal eventually... :catluv: *closed-crossed fingers* and I am so glad I found this forum for help, laughs, tears and possibly some life long friends... :buddies2:

Hugs from Quella La Roux and her mommy too.... in :Arizona:

:hiya: and :welcome3: to FBN..... well, sounds like you got yourself a true frenchie.... handful and a clown!!

Welcome to the site, and so happy you found us and joined the family. You baby is too precious. Pups will be pups and love to chew on everything. But they do learn eventually, even the potty thing. :)

Glad to meet you and Quella.

Who would have thought that one year later I would have made so many new Frenchie friends. You guys have all been a blessing and a half. Thank you so much!

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

I can't believe it's been a year! What a lovely young lady she has become. *hugs for you both*

Welcome to you and your sweet baby.

I too am new at owning this breed, after having owned pugs for the last 15 years. I thought, "Frenchies and pugs look alike (aside from the ears and tail), so they should behave similarly, right?" WRONG. *lol*

I ended up getting a brother/sister from a breeder, and holy Hanna, they were a *handful*. We adopted them at 8 wks (they're 5 months now), and I'd say that first month or two was definitely the toughest. Trying to get them to go on pee pads was a challenge (we had to do that, as when we got them in Feb it was just way too cold to put such little puppies outside), and once we kinda sorta got that down, we were dealing with all kinds of other things. They ate each other's poop, they were being fussy eaters, they were chewing on anything made of wood (coffee table legs, kitchen table legs, chairs, etc.), they destroyed the lining off of some antique chairs my MIL gave us, etc. I could barely sit down while they were up and about. I remember thinking, "Am I ever going to be able to sit down and watch a tv program ever again???"

It gets better, though. Finally the weather was warmer and they could go outside (I still had to carry them, though, as they couldn't negotiate stairs), but now they can, so I just leave the back door open and that's taken care of. *whew* They eat just fine, they now somewhat enjoy going for walks (I couldn't get Penelope to go for a walk for quite a while...just totally terrified), they don't eat each other's poop any more, and i've just had to barricade certain things off with an ex-pen as far as furniture is concerned. I can't trust them just yet! ;)

It just takes time for them to grow up a bit, for you to get used to them (they are WAY more active than I had anticipated, but it's not to the point where it's an inconvenience), and you'll settle into your groove. Now they're more into a routine, they're pretty good at going outside to do their business, and I just *love* them. I also think I'm way more relaxed after owning other dogs for so long. I was a nervous wreck with my very first pug! Now I'm a bit better at knowing what to get worked up over, and what I know will pass.

Quella La Roux... Does that translate to "something...red"? :D
