Moses and Oscar are both suffering from kennel cough :( Oscar got it first and is a lot better now, but Moses still needs a lot of rest and to be kept warm.
So sad to see both of my boys a bit under weather.

Safari had kennel cough earlier this spring. It seems to be making its rounds. Hope your boys feel all better soon!

Ugh,yea it's that time of the year.. For both, humans & dogs.

You can give him some unpasteurized, raw honey. Its antibacterial and will sooth his throat.

Ugh...so sorry. Jax was coughing/hacking a few weeks ago but it didn't last too long. Hope your boys feel better soon!

Poor fellas.... hope they are both better real quick

Thanks for the tip. We have been warming sauna in mild temperature and the boys have been sitting there and breathing warm steam. That also seems to help them.

Just have to share with you this story that happened couple of days ago. Both boys were resting on the sofa while I was working, then the door bell rang. Both bolted and ran to the door. Moses threw up slime along the way, little Oscar was right behind and slipped into the puke. I was running a round like a crazy person getting the floor cleaned, rushing to get both guys to shower, my office phone just kept ringing... My dad was just standing astonished by the doorway, watching the craziness and then said that maybe he will come for a visit some other time and just left :D

Oh my! That sounds hilarious and terrible at the same time :D
They really are like having toddlers!

The sauna is a great idea. I bet that helps. (i wish I had a sauna, too lol)

Phew, both boys are well again! For Oscar the cough lasted almost 2 weeks and for Moses it took only around 4 days.

Last week I took Oscar for a follow-up visit and he had the worst experience at the vet ever :(
We were alone in the waiting room. Suddenly the clinic door opened and a huge German shepherd walked in. We were both not facing the doorway and didn't see her coming in. She made really loud barks and both myself and Oscar jumped up.

Well, Oscar got so scared and crawled under the chairs shaking :( The little guy got really spooked. I picked him up and tried to calm him down, but he just continued shaking at the examination room as well and was far from his normal self.
Oscar would have had his rabies booster, but his temperature was slightly elevated, so the vet could not give the vaccination. I told the vet what had happened and she said that most likely the temperature is higher coz he got so spooked. She managed to examine Oscar otherwise and all looked ok.

So, we are re-scheduled back today to try again. I really, REALLY, hope that this past experience did not traumatise him. We have not met any bigger dogs during walks either since, so hopefully he is not nervous around them later on...or afraid of the vet's.

Highly annoying and so unnecessary event :( but I guess something like this could have happened eventually anyways...

Aww poor fellow. When we have our discount vaccine clinic once a month our waiting room will fill up with loud barking dogs. It's got to be scary for some of them. It gets so loud that it's hard for me to hear when I answer the phone in the back hallway!

Awe sorry to hear this. Let us know how it goes today

Do you have any friends with big dogs? Maybe a good socializing session is in order to help re write the bad memory!

Awww, poor little Oscar! I agree with Hannah. Try and get him to meet a bigger dog that's very laid back so he'll get used to a dog that size. Hopefully he'll learn not to be scared.

I LOLed at your story with the puke and your dad. :D We had a sauna in our house growing up (Finnish dad) and I do miss it when I'm not feeling well.

Oscar clearly remembers the bad experience. He started shaking again when we entered at the vet, but he calmed down relatively quickly, so I hope he will overcome that soon.

I have actually planned a visit next weekend to meet a friend who has a Shetland sheep dog (collie size :D ). He is a really friendly dog, so hopefully the visit goes well for Oscar.
