lepto shot

Our vet does not recommend this vaccine and I do titers for the core vaccines, except rabies. State law requires it.

I guess it depends on where you live and the dogs lifestyle. I know I have been thinking on it. I've heard. Lot of people say it can cause reactions, etc but I work at a Veterinary hospital and have seen a number of cases of lepto. That scares me. Is your dog ever where wildlife may have been? The woods, creeks, lakes, etc?

Well not really wild life but I see squirrels and raccoon around. I have also herd they can get it from cat and dog urine?

The daycare Jax goes to now requires the lepto vaccine. When I called the vet, I found out he already has gotten it. Thankfully he's never had a reaction to any vaccines.

No, my pup wont get a Lepto Vaccine. The risks of the vaccine outweigh the risks of actually catching Lepto or becoming seriously ill from it, by a lot (at least where I live).
Dogs naturally has written a handful of articles on the Lepto Vaccine. If you google Lepto and dogs naturally it will come up with some interesting articles :)

agree --- our vet never recommended it until we moved 3 yrs ago... we have woods that back up to our yard and there are frogs, toads, deer, raccoon, possum, groundhogs, rabbits etc, etc, coming in and out of our yard so our vet then told us it would be best to have it. so, it does depend on where you live and what is around you

I never had this done to Wally. I live in the city and we have a completely fenced in back yard so any wildlife that is around, raccoons, rabbits, etc., don't get in our yard.

Same here! We are surrounded in wildlife!

I don't know what to do I want him to go out in my back yard and it is all fenced in but like I said I do see squirrels and raccoon around. I have read a lot of articles on google with so many opinions its scary. The vet said she had a case of it in the neighborhood but i'm not planning on taking him to dog parks or anything just my back yard.

If my vet told me there was a case in the neighbourhood, then I would probably get the vaccination for my dog if it was me!
Like the others said it depends on your situation and where you live.
