Hi everyone

I'm Kajal and I'm new to this forum. I have a 7 month frenchie called Alfie.

We used to feed him Canin kibble but he became extremely fussy and refused to eat it unless it was laced with egg, chicken, tuna, cheese etc.

We then decided to go raw as we thought it would be better for him and he'd get all the nutrients required. We buy from The Dogs Butcher so everything is balanced.

He ate it without any issues in the beginning (tripe). Now he wont touch tripe, lamb, ox, mixed meat. He refuses to eat. He will eat anything else so we know he's not ill. Tried to give him absolutely nothing but his food for two days but he is very stubborn.

We've tried to add warm water to it, a bit of chicken, egg, but nothing will work.

Is there anything anyone can suggest? We're running out of ideas!

Thank you very much!

Glad you took him off of the Royal Canin as it is quite a poor quality food. We do not feed raw so can't really be of much help there. I do have a picky eater though and we went through many different foods. I feed mine Sojos pre-mix (freeze-dried) and add a cooked protein.

My Buster can be picky too, but he'll eat so his English brother doesn't have a chance at it. I will admit sometimes we have to hand feed him. He isn't underweight so I don't worry if he misses a meal or 2. We feed Natures Variety Instinct Limited Ingredient and add a topper (cooked meat). You could try having a dog friend over and feed them at the same time.

Some dogs need varieties everyday. You could feed raw beef/lamb/chicken/duck/turkey top with boiled eggs/scramble eggs/chicken liver/tripe/lungs/boiled sardines/ boiled tuna/kefir yoghurt/coconut oil etc etc etc... that's what I did. Just different combination every meal. I have a fussy eater at home too and it sucks big time when she doesn't wanna eat.

If giving varieties still don't work, you may need to seek medical help. Maybe he is not feeling well? Digestive problem? Thyroid problem?

All the best, just really hope he is genuinely picky.

Oh, @rocco ! Any insight for our new member with your same issues?

Thank you everyone. Tried switching it up and haven't had any luck. Doesn't seem to like raw at all. Tried giving an egg with boiled chicken and usually scoffs it all down, but only ate half. Taking him to the vet soon just to get him checked out :)
