Hey guys, I'm new here. I just moved into my new flat, also I bought all new furniture. The problem is that my little Prince loves to scratch the surfaces of my new furniture.. He is a really stubborn dog and I just cant fight with his new obsesion. So the only thing that I can do is to trim his nails. I started to search for dog nail trimmer online and I think I found something that suits me and my dog. I'm thinking of this trimming decive. But before buying it, I would love to know more about this product from people who uses or used it. Maybe someone of you tried it? What is your opinion about this particular product? And maybe you know something better than this, I would love to know. Thanks!

I use a dremel.

Agree... get a Drexel and keep nails as short as you can.

Do you give him something to occupy his time when he does this? Sometimes a rubber chew toy, ball or favorite toy will stop this unwanted behavior along with a stern gutteral tone. He needs to know that you don’t approve and th behavior is not accepted by you.

That looks like a Dremel with plastic guard around it. It should work well. If Prince is not used to that, it might freak him out a bit when you first try to use it, so go slow. Maybe one toe a day or even slower until he gets used to it. For my current pup, I have a mat that I push cheese into to keep him occupied when I trim his nails. https://www.chewy.com/hyper-pet-lickimat-dog-cat-feeding/dp/177533 Something like this one. My 9 month old (non Frenchie) is 90+ lbs so there is no holding him down to clip nails if he doesn’t want to be there. This mat works great for him. I also have removable seat protectors on all of my furniture. To me, it is just part of having dogs. Good luck.

I watched the video- looks like a great idea, except it was funny when a dog with long facial hair was getting it all dirty while licking the mat :)

I have always used a Dremel with my AmStaffs but it is a little loud. I recently bought Nail Grinder | FURminator® for my Frenchie because he isnt a fan of having his nails done. Its pretty quiet and has the plastic guard over it. I bought mine from Amazon for less than $9 USD.

I have also tried the nail caps on my cat. They work pretty well. Some would stay on for a couple of weeks and others would fall off in a couple of days. But with a dog, I would think chewing at them would be a likely issue and they may not stay on long.
