Good Morning All,

My frenchie is a little over two months old and everything was going great. On Monday of this week, he stopped eating and playing so I took him to the vet who informed me he developed mild pneumonia, most likely stemming from a cold he had. He has been on antibiotic treatment and has has a few nebulizer treatments since Monday. Although the vet keeps telling me he will be ok, my concern keeps growing greater as I am a first time dog owner. Is there anything more I should be doing for him to help him? Has anybody ever been through this experience? Any advice or support is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Be sure to follow you vet instructions to the letter.... steam baths help too ... stay with the nebulizer and keep hi calm.

how is he doing?

I would try to make sure he gets plenty of rest and doesn't get overly excited to make breathing more difficult. Steam baths are also a great suggestion.

I agree with others, steam baths help, and the nebulizer too. Make sure he gets all of his antibiotic and as others have said, limit his activity. I hope he gets well soome, poor baby.

Hi everyone!

Quick update. Sherman is def on the mend. Vet has him on 14 days of antibiotics (1/2 pill 3 times a day). We went back and forth each night for nebulizer treatments. After around 5 days he began to act like a puppy again. It was so scary as this is my first pet and felt pretty helpless for awhile. He has to stay on the antibiotics until complete but its pretty amazing how they his personality and behavior can change so fast overnight. Is it a wise choice to purchase a nebulizer to keep at home, should breathing issues or illness arise again? Of course, a vet visit would occur as well but was just wondering if people give treatments at home or would steam baths in conjunction with the vet's nebulizer treatments suffice? Thanks for all the well wishes!

I'm glad he is going better. I can't help you with your questions though.
