Hi Everyone,
I have a 17 week old French bulldog.
His nose fold under his right eye is very raw and hairless.
Two weeks ago he received his last vaccines and kennel cough nasal vaccination
He had a small hard bump appear very close to where the vaccines were administered
and A few days later I noticed ear scratching and cheesy smelling ears. As well as the red and shedding wrinkle. I took him to the vet, who cleaned his ears really well and she administered some drops. Surlan drops. The drops are for yeast. She recommended that we put a small drop on his wrinkle using gauze twice a day, same for his ears. It has been a week and 2 days and I have not seen any change. He is on a grain free, potatoe free diet until the yeast clears. I will be keeping him on a grain free diet. I have started applying a small amount of Polysporin and keeping wrinkles dry. I'm hoping this will help. Any advice????

We use unscented baby wipes on our English Bulldogs many facial wrinkles. Dexter may be allergic to the protein he is getting or it just may take longer to clear up. What food is he getting?

We also use unscented baby wipes to clean the folds under their eyes. If it is a food issue it may take a while to clear out of his system.

I have 2 dogs, one of whom seems to get infected wrinkles. For that one I usually take a cosmetic pad, wet it, put a bit of a shampoo on it that is antifungal and antibacterial ( eg. Curaseb ), and wipe the wrinkle with it. A few minutes later I take another wet cosmetic pad and wipe out the shampoo. Right after that I take a final cosmetic pad and dry the wrinkle out. I do this ever 2-3 days to keep wrinkles in good shape. I have also tried putting in Desitin and polysporin triple ointment and clotrimazole cream , but with previous regimen with the shampoo I haven't needed to do that anymore.

I used Malacetic wipes for Radar's folds and tail pocket. It worked pretty well, but when I put him on Apoquel for his other allergy symptoms the redness and other issues also went away.

If your dog has environmental allergies I would try an antihistamine like diphenhydramine, cetirizine, chlorpheniramine etc before apoquel ( although apoquel is a lot more effective )for three reasons:
1) you can't use apoquel until your dog is at least one year old
2) antihistamines are a lot less expensive and without any side effects ( apoquel costs about 40.00/month )
3) apoquel can rarely cause nausea, diarrhea in short term use and with long term use can slightly increase risk of cancer and infections

I've just switch his food it has been 2 weeks. He was on hills science diet:( when I brought him home from the breeder at 14 weeks. It's full of corn, gluten, meat by product etc. I have him on Open Farm, fish and lentil. I was told it may take 2 bags before the allergen is out of his system.
I will speak to my vet about antihistamine for puppies. I'm in the process of looking for a new vet. She isn't very helpful. Thank you!!

Antihistamines are mainly good for seasonal type allergies, eg. to grass, weeds, and should be safe since your puppy is over 16 weeks old. I don't think they will help much with food allergies and subsequent ear wax, yeast problems etc. but I was just mentioning them for your information. You should make sure you feed a puppy dog food since you don't want your dog growing too fast and getting hip and spine problems later.

We use witch hazel on a cotton pad for fold cleaning.
