So I've been putting a lot of thought into getting a second Frenchie. I'm in college and all of Hudson's dog friends' moms have graduated, and he is incredibly bored. I'm not comfortable taking him to our local dog park, and his dog daycare is an hour away so not practical for regular visits. I'm home pretty much all day, even during the year.

For those of you with two frenchies instead of one, what are the major pros and cons?

I have decided I would rather get an adult than a puppy, and have found a 2 year old male who needs rehoming. I'm just trying to decide if this is the right thing for me since some people in my life are against it.

I have always had 2 dogs at a time (once 3). The pros are they always have a playmate, they exercise each other, have someone to snuggle. The only cons are if they don't get along, but most dogs do get along with others. I would not want to be an only dog with a busy owner!

I always say, everyone needs at least two. We have three at the moment, plus some English bullies. They all get along great. Frenchies are very social dogs, they love their humans, but also enjoy each others company.

I agree. And seeing him play with other dogs it is so, so plain to see how much he enjoys it. He has never met a dog he didn't like. Even when other dogs are aggressive he just takes it and has never once shown any form of aggression. He just plain loves other dogs.

I think so too. He loves me for sure and loves his time with me, but there's just no substitute for another dog. We had another Frenchie next door this year which was GREAT but now he is gone and all of his playmates have left or are leaving.

Perhaps when my mom comes up to visit this week (she hasn't seen him since he was like 14 weeks), she'll realize that this is the right thing for him. She has a dog that is NOT a dog lover so she doesn't really get it I don't think.

Lewis and I were actually having this conversation the other day --- we have an English and a frenchie .... Banks (EB) is approaching 9 and we realized as she was at the vet for a week, that Cheli will need an immediate new companion when the times comes,. He was so lost without his sister, it was sad

I have 4 dogs now. When I got my first frechie about 10 months ago I knew right away I wanted another. My boxer and Golden Retriever are getting older and don't play much so Ollie needed a playmate. I'm SOOOOOOOOO happy I got Batman. We have had him 2 weeks now and Ollie and Batty are the best of buddies! They play all the time. They sleep together, they play. Ollie thinks mommy got him the very BEST interactive toy! I love having mutiple dogs and will alwasy have mutiple. Maybe not 4. Will drop to three probably in time. I will always have 2 frenchies. They need each other to play with I think. Dogs are social pack animals. It is a scientific fact that dogs live longer and happier when they live with other dogs. :) Yes, more food, more poop and more vet bills. But to me it's well worth it. :)
