Hi my name is John and I have a 5 year old frenchie called pepper.
She underwent spinal surgery 4 weeks ago to remove a disc .
4 days later she was unwell and an mri showed she had a blood colt on the spine so a further surgery was required.
She is now home but immobile and incontinent. She is having physio to aid recovery but am told a long process .any advice?

My boy had a herniated disc in his neck that required surgery, and is now thankfully doing well. I’m sorry to hear about your baby. Hopefully she will have a speedy recovery.

How long was recovery and was she unable to walk after surgery am concerned

He was on crate rest for at least 30 days, I can’t remember exactly. And yes thankfully he could walk but he was fairly unstable. Did a specialist perform the surgery? A certified neurologist performed our boys surgery.

She was operated on by a professor of neurology at leahurst hospital was an inpatient for 9 days .our girl won't go in a crate so we are sitting with her constantly.
So your boy walked after 30 days ?

He could walk as soon as he came home from surgery about 3 days later. He was pretty unstable though. What has the surgeon said about her still not being able to walk?

They say because she had blood clot on spine and it had to be removed this has put her back some .
They won't give 100% guarantee that she will walk which is concerning me

Best wishes and keep us posted. The health problems that the breed are susceptible too is their only drawback in my opinion

How old was your boy when had surgery?

I’m in the US in the Midwest. He was almost 6 years old. He had surgery last May in the Denver area. We had similar issues the year before, he had a MRI, but we were able to avoid surgery that time around with help from someone who used to post here by changing his diet etc.
