So we're taking Winnie with us to NY for Christmas, but of course, we're flying since we live in FL.

I purchased the large Sherpa Deluxe carrier... but she hasn't figured out how to turn around in it and I'm worried that's it's not comfortable enough for her. She's 22 lbs. and we measured her from foot to shoulder - 12 in. - so the large Sherpa is half an inch shorter. I'm nervous to go any bigger with a carrier.

Any suggestions?

Your pet should have a crate 6" (15cm) longer than their body length and 6" (15cm) higher than their shoulder height for adequate comfort. The recommended size for your dog would be the 300 intermediate standard size, eg https://www.petcratesdirect.com/collections/dog/products/petmate-sky-kennel-airline-approved-dog-kennel?variant=6508507141 I noticed the duffle you bought is rated for a dog up to 22 pounds, so you might be ok with using it. Try buying some meclizine 25mg tablets and give Winnie a dose and see if she gets really drowsy. If so, that will work out great for the flight since it's an antihistamine which is also an anti-nauseant and is supposed to be quite sedating. Also don't feed your dog day of travel, feed an early dinner the night before.

I travel quite a bit with Carrot and the travel bag I like the most is the Sturdi Bag in large or extra large. It can smash down to fit under seats and, most importantly it's super light. Much lighter than the Sherpa bag

Also ask the airline which crate they will allow. That always doesn't mean anything though, as a friend of ours was told one crate will work, they bought it and when they got to the airport, they airline people wouldn't let her use it and she had to buy another one before the flight.

Yeah, we are flying Southwest to NY and then American on the way home. I'm more worried about Southwest because they have specific requirements, but from what I've read online - they aren't usually sticklers about it. I got Winnie a carrier by Mr. Peanuts from Amazon and it's tall enough... but not exactly long enough. We're leaving Friday so I think at this point, we'll have to make-do. Thank you all for your advice! I'll be sure to post on here if I had any problems with Southwest since my carrier is above their height requirements.
