Hi all,

New here and new with dealing with French bulldogs , since December 2016. Gus is my male who is just over a year old. Right from the get go when he was 12 weeks old he hated his Kennel. he would poop in his bed which i thought to be very strange. I took him to the vet and they found him to be healthy. I decided to get rid of his kennel and just put up a pet gate in the hallway which worked great he had his own little space and he went two weeks without pooping on the floor. In the meantime I bell trained him to go outside. The longest he was ever left alone was 4 hours as I came home for lunch to let him out. A few months ago we moved and I understand how stressful that can be it took some time adjusting and figuring out where Gus' space was going to be. I found out that if Gus is left with too much space to do as he pleases he will pee and poop where ever he wants. So i bought a baby gate put that up in a hallway and he seemed great with it. I would come home and there would be no poops. Than all of a sudden every day or morning when we would get up there would be a poop on the floor. Doesn't matter if he had gone outside right before bed or right before I left for work. Even during the weekend when we are home all day when we put him in there at night he will poop on the floor. I am at a loss on how to fix this. I was thinking maybe he wants a smaller kennel to be put in, to have his own safe space, But my husband thinks that's mean and he would hate it.

I would really appreciate any input here!

Thanks in advance!!

Definitely try the smaller space... he is probably not fully comfortable in the new home and the if you make the space the same size as the old it may help... also give an old tshirt of yours fir scent which will help him sleep better

Agreed. Giving him a smaller area isn't mean, it's providing him with more of a chance to be successful. As he is successful, you can gradually increase the space he has.

I agree with everyone else..smaller space.

I agree on the positive results possible with a smaller space. Also, if he poops more than twice a day I'd cut back on the amount of food he is getting.
