Danté would be embarrassed if he knew I was sharing this... But he's a poo machine! Seriously, like 5-7 times a day. I have him on a half cup of food, twice a day (one cup total) and a spoonful of yogurt for dinner. I feed at 9am, 4:30 pm... And yogurt around 8. How can I cut back on the POO?

How old is he?

I feed Dave at 7am, 1pm and 7pm, he is on Beta puppy complete and he poo's around 4 to 5 times per day.

Usually lots of poo means lots of 'waste' ,meaning the food cannot be nutritionally absorbed.
What are you feeding him? Is there a lot of fillers like Corn or rice present on the ingredients list?

After we finished bottle feeding our little stray kitten a rescue gave us a bag of kibble and I felt bad because they didnt want to take it back so I fed it to her that day and the next two. There was about 6 poos in her litter box every day.Now on raw she poops once a day. Same with the dog.

Puppies do usually poop a little more often though.

Danté is going to be 11 weeks on Friday. I'm feeding him Blue Buffalo grain free puppy kibble. He has gone through some food transitioning this week... Maybe his little tummy needs to adjust? MaplesMommy once a day?! That would be a godsend.

Bear is on the Fromm (3x daily), and at merely 13 weeks we're down to 1-2 poops per day!

When Buster was a puppy and eating Canidae he pooped 4 to 6 times a day. Now he eats NVI Limited Ingredient and is a very regular twice a day.

Jax went more when he was younger as well. Now it's usually twice a day, sometimes 3 times.

Hudson used to go like that when he was that age. Now we are down to 1 or 2 a day (feeding raw).

Quella would go pooty poo 4-8 times a day when she was 8-16 months old on Royal Canin. She now goes 4 times a day and possibly 1 additional turd if she had a snack serving of fresh fruit or veggies during the day. She is currently on 1/2 cup 2x day of Orijen Puppy and her pooty poos are horrificly stinky as well as large. She has no irregularity or allergies or reactions to the food, so for now, I think it's working for her.

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

Batty is on the same exact food and he poops probably 3 times a day....yes during the transistion he will poop more. Puppies poop more anyway. My big boys go twice a day normally.

Feed him 3 times a day for a total of about 1 cup per day. As he gets a little older feed him a little more each time. Henri is 22 weeks old and he get just a little over 1/2 cup three times a day. Once he gets around 6 months of age we will cut him back to twice a day but the same amount, about 1 1/2 cup a day. Once he gets 1 year of age we will start cutting his food intake back to about 1 cup a day, but that depends on his weight and activity.

We have noticed this lately with Pierce. It took forever to find a food that did not seem to bother his stomach. Finally, we found Taste of the Wild High Sierra puppy was great. The only thing about it is how much he poops. Not only him, but also our dachshund who is on the adult version. My concern is they are not absorbing as many nutrients, or there is a lot of waste in the food. The ingredient list is good and it gets high ratings. Pierce did not tolerate the Fromm Gold puppy food well for some reason, but I have been thinking of trying the Fromm Beef Frittata since it is an all life stages food. I really hate having a mine field in my back yard, and between him and the dachshund it is crazy out there!

TeresaW i also wonder if danté is receiving any nutrients at all from his food based on how much he poo's.... I think i might cut him back from a cup of food per day to 3/4 cup. He is only two and 1/2 pounds anyway.

So Danté's been through an entire bag of the Blue Buffalo grain free puppy and he's still pooing 8-10 times a day. He is eating 1 1/4 cup of food three times a day and also gets a spoonful of plain non-fat greek yogurt. Is it the yogurt?! Or maybe all the veggies in the Blue Buffalo? This is absurd! I'll never have him potty trained if he continues to go like this. I swear he poos more than he pees. And it's all solid. I'm gonna speak with the vet about it when he goes in for his third round of shots.

Lol I think he's eating too much. I'm not sure what Blue Buffalo says, but nearly 4 cups of food for a 2 pound dog doesn't seem right! As a comparison, my dog is 13 pounds at 15 weeks old and eats about 1 3/4 cups per day.

What does the kibble bag recommend?

I'm sorry lkclark ... I wrote that incorrectly. In all, he gets 1 1/4 cups of food for the entire day. Split into three feedings, along with a spoonful of greek yogurt.

Is he free fed or does he get meals?

That is the correct amoun of food for Dante. I feed the same amount to Batty. 1 1/4 cups of food total for the day split into 2 meals. (I can't feed three times a day - I have to work to pay for the food.. LOL )

But it does seem odd how much he's pooping. Batty poops probably 3-4 times a day. Just be grateful that his tail is not stuck down and gets poop on it all the TIME like my Ollie. Poor Ollie has the embarrasing life of having mommy wipe his but when his poops get stuck to his bum bum. It happens a lot and the rest of the family just laughs at him and leaves it till MOMMY GETS HOME. I got home last night and my husband says Ollie has a NUGGET. I said WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU CLEAN HIM UP?!?!? My poop baby had to sit and wait for mommy to get home to clean his but but. Hubby said, nope he's your dog and you wanted to do EVERYTHING for him. I called him a butt nut...
