Hi all,

I have a 14 week old frenchie that i received about 2 weeks ago. She had a gastrointestinal condition basically since i got her and she has been recovering pretty good, meds, change of food, etc.

Im feeding her 3 times a day (usually 6:30 am, 12:30 pm and 7:30 pm.), with Hill's Prescription Diet i/d dry food, as vet advised.

The issue im having is that she is pooping a lot at night, about 3 or 4 times (between 12am and 6am). She also poops after she eats at 7:30 pm. She sleeps on our room so she is free to roam at night. What do you guys advise me to do to stop this? Is she too young to hold it and should let her? Should i get a crate for her to sleep? Should i wait until she is fully recovered from the condition she had?

Thanks for your time and assistance

J

Yes i can try that. I also arranged her pen into the bedroom, i had to reduce the size to half tho, but maybe that will start getting her the idea that she should start holding tru the night, but in case she cant, there will be a safe area with pads inside

Agree... earlier dinner time. How much long will she needs meds and special diet?

She is done with meds now, but the IG food gonna continue giving until is gone. When bag is 1/4 then ill start mixing her regular food with it and then switch over

Since she eats pretty early im going to give her the last food around 5:30 pm instead so she has plenty of time to go before bed

What is her regular food? Try to avoid chicken if possible as a lot of bulldogs for whatever reason have issue with it. Go with a more novel proteins like kangaroo rat it or duck. Our pops both finished eating at 5:30 for the day and they are able to go the full night without another poo

Thank you, ill look into those then :D

For instinct, there are two, original and raw-boost, which of those two would you recommend?

Both are good... just avoid chicken... try duck or turkey

Good news. I was able to find both Orijen and Acana brands. I wanna go for any of those correct?

My pup, 12 weeks, also poops too much, and he's done so since we got him 4 weeks ago. At first the problem was giardia, but the poop has persisted! I'm trying to figure out this GI mystery because I think we'll all be happier when the pooping slows down. I switched him off chicken and am hoping this lamb diet will slow it down. But there have only been 2 nights in the past month that he hasn't pooped in his crate! (He doesn't give us any signal beforehand — just whimpers after the fact.) His last meal is usually between 5:30-6pm, he poops once or twice before he goes into the crate around 10/10:30, and he poops again usually around 12:30/1 (in the crate). Sometimes he poops yet again before waking up between 5:30-6am. I'm exhausted!!!

Hope things have improved for Lalique!
