Hi I got a new puppy 2 weeks ago when he was 8 weeks old. I immediately noticed when he was outside that he would squat to pee, walk a couple seconds, squat to pee again, walk about a minute then squat to pee again. Because he is so tiny it's hard for me to tell if anything is coming out every time he squats. Every time he's outside he squats many times ins couple minutes. When he's in the house i don't let him out of my sight but I can tell when he starts sniffing around that he needs to go out. Which is about every 5-15 min. I took in a urine sample which came back negative. He turns 10 weeks today. If this is puppy hood then I'm fine with it, but peeing that often outside doesn't seem normal to me. And I'd hate if he was in any pain? I made another vet appt tonight to get bloodwork and maybe an xray. What do you guys think? Am I over reacting?

I would say not normal. Puppies pee, a LOT, but this sounds a bit extreme. Sounds like a UTI but if you have had the urine checked already maybe there is another issue? Good idea to go to the vet for further investigation.

I don't think he drinks a lot but I've never had a small dog before. Not to sound dumb but, What is considered a lot?
I took him to the vets and got a different vet. She said he has white blood cells
And bacteria in his urine (the same sample they told me was negative). She said they consider bacteria to be "foreign bodies" and are nothing to worry about. After I kept insisting she finally did bloodwork and gave me clavamox. The bloodwork came back fine except for a liver enzyme which she said is high in all puppies. I'm hoping the clavamox works considering he's had this UTI for the 2 weeks I've had him and who knows how long before that.
:(

He's going to feel better really quick no doubt if it's indeed a UTI. Just make sure you give all antibiotics and go in for a recheck as soon as he has finished them.

Hope your little guy gets better soon, and if you don't already, please keep water available 24/7. Some people think by restricting water, that helps with potty training, but it is a myth.

Hope he is feeling better.... the Clavamox will clear the UTI up, but make sure you finish all that was prescribed to ensure it is gone.

UPDATE- Well he has been on clavamox since Thursday night and I don't really see an improvement. He has been drinking and peeing more, which I'm sure is a side effect of the antibiotics. He will pee but then still squat many times after that. I'd say about 5 times in maybe 5-6 minutes. Something he has been doing lately which makes me wonder is that he'll squat for the 3rd or 4th time and go immediately from the squatting stands up and poops right away, like he's just pushing back there. Never seen a dog do that? He's 10 weeks old. Could he be marking? Am I freaking out over nothing???

My guy didn't start marking until almost 7 months so at that age I doubt it's that. Hope you start to see improvement soon!!!

Drinking and urinating more shouldn't be a side effect of Clavamox. I hope they figure out what is going on with him soon.
