As most of you know Titan has had a severe case of 2 parasites, and was on medicine from 10 weeks old til 7 months old exactly. His system was pretty messed up...

I switched him over to the FROMM Game Bird at that point when they said he was Giardia free ( 1 month ago) and he was still having loose stool here and there, and it keeps making me paranoid the Giardia is back, so I called my vet (she's amazing, and breeds/shows frenchies herself) and she said the Duck in the Game Bird recipe is too rich for his system right now, and suggested we switch to chicken. As we know, Chicken a la veg is not a grain-free option for FROMM which I prefer to purchase.

I got a small bag and switched him this afternoon (he eats 1 1/2 cups a day, 1/2 cup 3 times split up), and he's gone potty twice with solid stool...

He has no itching, no ear problems (no yeast or redness) no red eyes, nothing pointing to allergy or sensitivity to the Game Bird, so I will eventually switch him back once he's a little older & can handle the duck.

My question is basically is... Does the grain-free make a difference for a dog who doesn't have an allergy/sensitivity? Even the shop owner mentioned how people try to steer clear of grain for their bullies they bring in...

Would the Lamb & Lentil be a contender since its grain-free or is lamb 'rich' or 'harsh'? Or Pork & Applesauce if he for some reason reacts badly to the Chicken A La Veg? Not grain-free but if it's what I have to do, it's what I have to do.

Thanks for any input! I appreciate you all so much!

I want to say that lamb may be rich as well but I'm not 100% sure. Jax hasn't done well on any of the Fromm recipes. I've talked to vets and pet store workers and it seems everyone has a different opinion about grains. Some say steer clear of any grains and some think if there is no allergy or intolerance, it's fine. I'm of the opinion that you should feed whatever works for your Frenchie.

Ours do very well on pork and peas.

Well both have done well on the game bird but she said it's too rich and apparently switching to the grain vs grain free types causes diarrhea? So yeah, this isn't fun.

I think I'm going to switch back in the next 24 hrs and return this food if his bowel movements don't return to semi-normal because I'm over dealing with explosive diarrhea. Sorry TMI but I've practically been up to my eyeballs in it since he was 10 weeks old.

I don't really think adding grains when he's been on grain free is ideal? Why introduce them 8 months later? *sigh*

I'm so stressed out with trying to get him to be a ~normal~ dog. Like he's already deaf, was severely sick... Can't I just feed him the food he was already on and call it a day?!

Lol sorry for the rant but this is getting overwhelming again.

Try either Pork and Peas or Beef Frittata both are grain free.... Lamb would also be too rich for him

I think I'm going to switch to the Pork and Peas... But we'll see after a stool sample...

Thanks for the input!

Try the pork an peas, but we have also used the Pork and applesauce and they have done fine on both.
