Hello,

I am looking to get a French Bulldog and I'm seeing a huge variety of price ranges from $600 to $3500 from breeders.

The one were looking at is a chocolate female and the breeder is asking $2500. I don't think shes registered, but the parents are so she's eligable.

My question is, is this a normal price range for Frenchie puppies and what would make them more expensive than others?

Welcome to EBN!

$2500 seems to be about right the going price for a reputable breeder pup would be between 2500 and 3500

I found their website and it says they the frenchie puppies are APR registered, is this as reputable as an AKC registration? Can they be AKC registered if the parents are only APR (I'm not sure if the parents are or not)?

I am not as versed in those registrations... davidh might have insight

I've never heard of APR, so I did a search.

Lots of info about it and I came across this:

The AKC is an all breed registry...at least for the breeds that are recognized by the AKC.

The APR or Americas Pet Registry is a made up organization that will register any dog that an owner CLAIMS is pure.

The registration is not worth the paper it is printed on and is only worthy of being used as toilet paper.

The AKC has been around for a long time and is a CLOSED registry...which means that only dogs whose parents are registered can be registered.

Obviously, this is not a very glowing opinion of APR registrations.

However, I've seen so many posts here about serious health issues with recently purchased puppies.

I think you are more likely to get a healthy dog from a reputable AKC breeder.

@mattcantwin is right, only a pup with both sire and dam being registered with AKC can be registerd with AKC. APR is not worth the paper it's printed on. Plus Marcy, please do not by the chocolate, or black and tan, or blue, or meryl Frenchies, as they are not true Frenchies, they are a mix breed, so not "full blooded". These colors are not original colors, and definitely are not "rare", (that is a scam). These colors are disqualifying colors with AKC for a good reason. These pups are not worth more than a few hundred dollars. Buy from a reputable breeder who ONLY breeds to the AKC standard.
