My frenchie was running in circles like crazy always.. So I gave her some water and she drank it really fast. A few seconds later she squatted like she was going to poop but threw up and it was a lot. Most of her food she had eaten earlier. After that she ran to two other spots and threw up a little more. Should I be alarmed? Is it because she just drank too fast? We did recently switch her to another flavor food, same brand though. She also went to the vet the other day and all lab tests came back negative, and got her rabies and dapp shots. She's now running around like her normal crazy self again but that scared the crap out of me. Anyone else have this experience?

frenchies are like bottles of soda, shake them up and they explode!

When a dog has an upset belly or nauseous-- they will over drink to induces vomit.

How is she now?

Jax will sometimes throw up after drinking too much water too fast. And whenever he went for a walk or went to daycare we would have to wait a bit to feed him cause he would throw up if he ate immediately after a lot of activity.

Has any given their dog Cerenia? its supposed to help with the nausea...our Vet said something that these dogs are prone to acid reflux? they recommended giving Petey prilosec. We did follow there recommendation but immediately stopped after the second day, it made him very ill and lethargic. He went back to his normal self once we stopped both medications, this was two weeks ago. Yesterday we've started to slowly change his food and he threw up again several times and after drinking water like no end...we gave him half a Cerenia, but not sure if this is going to be an ongoing issue? Does anyone know if these dogs are indeed prone to regurgitating their food, or have acid reflux issues?

Yes.. unfortunately they can be along with being picky eaters. Cerenia is good and I've had good results with it.

What food and amounts are you currently feeding?

We have been feeding him Natures Variety Limited Ingredient Lamb w/dehydrated lamb topper and Salmon(same brand and type). I started to slowly add Honest Kitchen Minimalist food turkey/parsnips and fish/coconut, since we were considering changing his food, lately he’s been turning his nose up to his current food. We feed him about 2cups a day, 1 in the morning and 1 at night. He rarely eats in the morning and will gorge at night, probably because he’s hungry...Petey is 1yr 11mos, turning 2yrs on the 19th of November and he weighs between 35-36lbs. I did call his Vet and he wants us to bring him in and get some tests done to rule out bowel disease or gastrointestinal problems...so we’ll see what they find, I’m hoping it’s nothing but it’s better to air on the safe side...

Hope it's nothing serious, but it could easily just be the gorge-fest on the food and water. I would try giving him a little bit of THK without the other food that he's been turning his nose up at, in the morning. Just the same amount or a smidge more than you've been adding in and see if it stays down. If he eats it and isn't starving at night, maybe he won't gorge at night and get sick.

I’ll give it a try! Thanks for the suggestion.

One of my dogs used to throw up with salmon. Try not adding the salmon and see if that helps. You can also try splitting up meals into 3 smaller meals because some dogs eat the bigger meals too fast and throw up, or get hungry between meals and throw up bile.
