First day of Penelope being on raw food. I bought an 80/10/10 grind mix which came in a 5 lb tube. The fun part comes in separating into individual portions. Super stupid question - should I weigh out her portions or simply use a measuring scoop? I’m starting her with 7 oz a day and will adjust as needed. Yes, I’m anal.

I portion and measure out the meals. I usually make up two weeks meals at a time and freeze them and then pull them out to thaw as needed.

That’s what I did today, portioned everything out for 2 weeks. Looking forward to a healthier dog :)

I use a kitchen scale and weigh out the daily portions to have them ready to go. I could probably eyeball. It by now, but I still use the scale.

I agree with all above- figure out how long you have to thaw in fridge to make it sliceable, then cut it up into the portions you need, then refreeze.

I feed my dog 1/4 pound twice daily, so 4 oz twice daily. I used to feed 1/3 pound twice daily, then reduced to 1/3 pound in morning and 1/4 pound at night, but now I'm on 1/4 pound twice daily till Honey loses some of the weight she gained.

I buy it in 1 pound slabs, thaw it for about 3 hours in fridge, then cut it into quarters without weighing, then throw each 1/4 pound piece in its own zip lock bag and freeze. I move the pieces from freezer to fridge about 24 hours before I use them, to allow them time to completely thaw. When I serve them I also add about 40 ml water that I warm up in microwave for about 35 seconds to make it into a stew. Despite all that I still find my dog regurgitates quite a bit since switching to raw, doesn't matter which protein.
