I’ve noticed a red bump/cyst on my puppers cheek dive last week and has not yet healed. I am worried it maybe serious, and I can’t get to an appointment until Tuesday. Any thoughts on what this might be?

My Boxer gets something similar whenever he chews on a KONG. Some rubber toys aggravate his skin...it's basically acne.

I don't know if it's the same as what you've got going on, but it does look similar. I think going to the vet Tuesday is a good idea and will probably relay your fears. Good luck!

Gus occasionally gets acne, although, they are never as large as that particular bump on your pup. I clean it with Colloidal silver, and make sure I'm extra diligent about hygiene. Plastic/rubber toys or plastic food bowls tend to harbor bacteria, so if you use those you may want to replace them or regularly clean them with a safe and natural (chemical free) antibacterial spray.

It could be a hysto-thingy, ( i have brain block on the full name) the body reabsorbs it in a few weeks, but I’d still get it checked to confirm

I agree with previous comments, good to get checked out, but it probably looks worse than it is!

I also can't remember the actual name but it looks really similar to a benign growth my pup got under his chin. We ended up getting it removed because it got quite a bit bigger and he ended up scratching it, making it bleed. The vet thought it would go away on it's own but Rooney was due to be fixed anyway so we took it off. Hasn't been back since and that was a year and a half ago.

Do you think if it’s a benign growth, that I should just put a cone on her so she won’t scratch it? My vet just said to wait it out, but also wanted me to pay $700 in figuring out exactly what it was.

If it's a benign tumour called a histiocytoma, it could take up to 3 months to resolve, so that's a long time to wear a collar. However, if she starts scratching it you won't have a choice.

Usually it's benign in puppies, so it's definitely worthwhile waiting it out to see if it goes away unless it's growing really fast.
