Hey- my 10month old adopted frenchie, Chewy, had soft palette surgery last week as a first step to help reduce affects of his hiatal hernia. Since surgery his regurgitation has increased. We have to wait two months to see a new specialist because the existing specialist don’t even know what meds they prescribed to us and I refuse to put my pup back in their care. Has anyone had the soft palette surgery and it lead to increased regurgitation? Have you moved forward with hiatal hernia surgery? Help.

We had Gus' soft palate trimmed on May 11th and the regurgitation was REALLY bad the first couple weeks. He is fine now - I think it just needed time to heal, and it possibly took longer because of all the regurgitation. I couldn't get him to take the pain pills, so I'm sure that didn't help either.

Hope your baby is just on the road to recovery and it takes care of itself.

Edit to add that Gus doesn't have hiatal hernia issues, as far as I know.

Cheli had this surgery twice, but no issue with regurgitation after. I hope your baby is doing better and you find a better vet to take care of him
