Does anyone know of any supplements that I can give my Otis to stop excessive shedding? He is allergic to fish 🛇🐟

I'm assuming it's hair loss consistent throughout body, so not caused by pests, low thyroid, hormone imbalance etc. I would give flaxseed oil or ground flaxseed daily as well as a teaspoonful of coconut oil 3 x a week. Also, brush dog daily with a furminator and Zoomgroom brush. Try to eliminate allergies such as food and environmental allergies by switching dog foods, cleaners if needed. If your dog does have environmental allergies you should give him an antihistamine such as cetirizine daily. If he has a yeasty smell you might want to wash him twice weekly for a few weeks with Curaseb or Malaseb shampoo (while brushing with a Zoomgroom brush) and then weekly. This will get rid of the yeast and the fur that's shedding at the same time.

Good advice. I am amazed at how little Buster sheds; his English brother is another story, he sheds enough for 100 dogs!

Some dogs seem to shed a lot more than others - people have said here that the fawn and white coated frenchies seem to shed more.

Ruggles, who is an English Bulldog, is a very thick coated brindle. I always assumed the thick coat was the reason for shedding so much.

Dexter sheds sooooo, soooooo much!! He's dumping his winter coat and honestly - it's everywhere! I furminate him and wonder how he's not bald as so much hair comes out of him! :)

Jax is a fawn and usually only sheds twice a year (winter coat and summer coat). And he is starting to shed right now!

Maybe this is what's going on with Otis, he is just shedding his winter coat 😊

Right now they are blowing their winter coats, so nothing is going to help that. Some just shed more than others. I have noticed the light fawns will shed like crazy. The dark fawns, and dark brindles hardly shed at all, at least not as much as the light fawns do, and also the pies with white will shed a lot too.

So true !

I have a light fawn French bulldog and piebald with white English bulldog and they both shed a lot. And the hair gets all caught up in your socks, clothes etc. and doesn't even come out in the wash.

Mine are shedding a lot right now. Pierce started first. Now Oren has joined in. The furminator is the best thing invented! In the Fall, we took Pierce to Petco and has them bathe him and do a shedding treatment on him. Pretty much they just really brush and blow out all the loose fur in his cost. It was amazing! Until the last few weeks, he shed very little. Next week, he is going back and Oren may be joining him!
