Just going to share this in case it helps anyone else. Our French had a problem where sometimes he would regurgitate food after eating (not vomit) but spit out whole kibbles and slime. He would also drink copious amounts of water and then spit out a big pool of slimy water (basically to clear his throat).
We had this problem for a long time but finally found some solutions / information.
Basically, this is due to heartburn and irritation of the stomach and esophagus. What helped our dog was eating smaller meals (divide up the food into 3-4 meals) a taking Pepcid / famotidine (10mg daily). For more serious conditions the vet may recommend sucralfate slurry to protect the throat or nexium type medicines to reduce stomach acid. Our vet says taking pepcid long term may be recommended although we may just use it when he has this problem.
Hope this helps anyone with a similar situation.
