I have been thinking of getting some training for Stella for a while. I am hoiping that some obedience training will help her gain some confidence. She is wound pretty tight. I found a woman on Yelp with great reviews so hopefully she will offer some help. Stella is afraid of so much in her little world. She is fearful of other dogs/puppies, wants to chase anything that moves...carts, strollers, birds, cars! She's afraid of heights and stairs and also the dog door. As much as I wanted continue exposure to some of these things to correct the problem, it has not. Jake has been somewhat helpful and she follows his lead on not barking at the vacuum or the broom. But when she is leashed and sees another dog, she goes crazy barking. So wish me luck that this trainer helps Stella overcome some of her fears. I feel so bad for her being so stressed all the time and it's not healthy either!

Awww, good luck. I find training to be so rewarding. Not only is it great bonding time-I can really feel the connection, but it absolutely does put them more at ease and less fearful. Not that T had issues with that, but the fact that I am "owning" my role as pack leader, I can see her look to me for cues when put into a new situation. I do think that if you find a good trainer, it will help. Here's to hoping that it does. good luck to you and Stella.

I feel your pain, I am looking for a good trainer for Brody and I want to be a good pack leader too! Good Luck to you!

Good luck Stella. :) Obedience training is so great in so many ways.

Thanks and so nice to hear how rewarding it is! I am hopeful I can better serve her in situations when she doesn't know what to do. She's such a sweet little dog.

Thanks! I know it's hard to find the right trainer. I didn't want to do a class because of how afraid of other dogs she is. I also came across a lot trainers that are a little too physcial and want to use choke chains, etc. so this woman seemed like she worked with a lot of smaller dogs and believes in positive reinforcement. I hope you find a good trainer for your Brody.

Good luck with the training, just make sure the trainer understands the Bulldog breed!

Good luck with the training, and hope it goes well.

Good luck Stella! I think this is going to be really great for her.

Well we had our first session today with the trainer and it went really well. It melted my heart when I got Stella to sit and look into my eyes (not at the treat) before I rewarded her. The trainer said she was really smart (maybe she tells that to everybody) but I liked her calm energy in working with her. So I am hopeful and we are working on Jake not jumping on guests when they come to our house too. :dog1:

Yeah for you and Stella! I know what you mean about looking into your eyes - it's an amazing bonding experience and the more I work with T the more she focuses on me. I'm so glad it looks promising, I do think that it can help relieve some of her anxieties. As for the jumping on us when we walk in the house, we worked on that too and I have to say, it really worked! Good luck and continue having fun!

Thanks! It was so fun. Jake just gets so excited when people come over, but I'm sure we will get it under control. I'm just so happy I found someone! You should post a vidoe of your lil Tallulah at work. I would love to see it.
