My new little Silvie is 12 weeks old. She came to us from the breeder with a gallon ziploc of costco puppy food and a very farty bottom.

I've purchased Taste of the Wild salmon grain-free puppy food, and have blended some in to some of her costco food in a 3:1 ratio in an attempt to introduce it gradually. I have not noticed any improvement in her stinky toots yet, but it may just be that there's still too much of the old food in the mixture to make a difference.

Her stools are not looser or more frequent so I guess that's a good sign. My hope is that they will be firmer and less frequent as we get away from the grain-based food.

Our pug eats the salmon/sweet potato dog food from costco and makes 2 frim poops a day and basically never farts, so that's our benchmark!

Anyone have any other tips?

Hello :) You could try adding some yogurt, the organic kind, cause the probiotic bacteria in it is good for a healthy intestinal tract. Also, if you can find it in your drug stores, we have medicinal charcoal here, and it works in reducing gas. We used to put the yogurt over the kibble and after the meal gave half a charcoal tablet and it helped. Now since she's all grown up she rarely has gas, especially during her heat cycle when she is bloated :)

Transferring to better quality food is a great way to start, which you are doing now. Transfer gradually within a week, which you are also already doing :) Give it some time after the transfer to see if it helps. Normally after two weeks you should be able to tell if it goes for better.

Sometimes it can take a while to find the food that fits to your puppy best. I remember when Moses was little, we went through several labels and ingredients before we found a fit.
However, remember to give it some time, few weeks, if you choose to try another food so that constant transfers won't mix the stomach more.
Many here recommend Fromm grain-free, which seems to fit for most :)

Adding plain yoghurt also seems to work for some frenchies, but when I tried it, it gave horrible gas to our little boy :) So you just have to try and figure out what works best for yours. currently I use another source of probiotic bacteria, which seems to be good for the stomach.

I feed Taste of the Wild salmon and sweet potato also. My dog has two nice firm poops a day. She is an adult though. I also think gas is somewhat a bulldog thing lol.

Jax was super glassy when he was younger and then I started giving him a probiotic and the gas significantly improved. Now I give him kefir a few times a week which works as a probiotic and has other benefits as well.

Dexter is on Salmon based food for his allergies, as well as an additional fish oil tablet each day. I'm surprised you can't smell him on the other side of the Atlantic!!

Add a little bit of plain greek yogart to her food, it should help during the transition

As otheres have said, plain yogurt, goats milk is best for the tummy, or probiotics help.
