I'm thinking about switching Cooper to Taste Of The Wild puppy formula. Does anyone else feed this? I'm open to other suggestions, preferably food that I can buy at Petsmart.

Also, how much should I be feeding him per day?

When you switch his food make sure you do it gradually--1/4 new mixed with 3/4 old for several days, then gradually increase the % of new food over 8-10 days.

There is a dog food rating on this site, it seems most feed their puppies Fromm. Usually the bag has a suggested amount to feed based on the size of the dog, but sometimes that is too much. We feed puppies 3 meals a day, and drop it to 2 somewhere between 6 months to a year. If the poop is loose rather than logs he may be getting too much food!

Not sure where you live, but you can purchase many high end foods on line at Chewy.com or Amazon. Chewy has free shipping on orders over $50 and is delivered very fast. If youy sign up for autoship you can save additional money. You can also check out dogfoodsadvisor.com for ratings on most dog foods. Good luck!

Petsmart, other than Taste of the Wild, really does not sell high quality foods, nor does Petco. They sell middle to lower end brands...

The better brands of kibble are (no particular order)
Acanca
Orijen
Earthborn
Fromm
Nature's Varity Instinct

It's a decent food, but the main thing is, will your pup do good on it. Time will only tell. Chewy is a great place to get your food from, and their customer service is the best I have ever seem. Also gauge the food on their poop as Alice Kable suggested.

Thanks everyone! We feed our 2 Shih Tzu's Nature's Variety Instinct and decided to switch him to that too. Hopefully he will do good on that, if not I'm going to try Orijen.

Maddy did pretty well on Nature's Variety Instinct puppy. I'd also given her TOTW Puppy as well as Orijen puppy. I found her licking her paws excessively when she was on TOTW. I know she has yeast infection. I then took a closer look at the ingredients and it has sweet potato and white potato on the top of the list. So I switched her off. Right now she's on Orijen, switch between Original and Six Fish once in a while. And she no longer licks her paws.

I like to buy from local boutique stores that sell high quality pet foods, but yeah, hard to beat Chewy, fast free shipping (normally next day shipping) and tax free.
