Swollen face

I know my Mom puts Zaflora in the vacuum and she says she hasn’t changed the vacuum bag in a while, potentially could be that as he does like to roll around on the carpet

Possibly... they are sensitive little buggers

Since he’s been on the raw food he is seeming very well and he loves the food but one thing is, after dinner he keeps throwing up, not a lot just little bits. Sometimes even just vomits a bit in his mouth and swallows it. Any idea why this is?

I think pretty common with the breed.

This started happening to my Hugo when he was about 4.5 months (also feed raw). I brought him to my vet and described the symptoms: he would “regurgiburp” as I call it—would be running around fine and spit up out of nowhere, sometimes able to swallow but not always. It got worse too where he would regurgitate all his food in the middle of the night.

With dogs and describing this to your vet it is important to note the difference between regurgitating which is what this sounds like to me and vomiting where there is some audible retching and dry heaving before it comes up. In our case the vet did a contrast scan for megaesophagus which you should have done and ruled out, this would also let the vet search for an obstruction in case the pup swallowed something he shouldn’t have and it’s blocking passage.

We were fortunate that, that was not the case for us and the vet prescribed a simple antacid which I give daily and has helped tremendously. Seriously went from constant regurgiburps to once in a blue moon now.

I didn’t like the idea of constantly having to get a prescription refilled so I asked on this forum and other members had tried famotidine (Pepcid) and I asked my vet if I could switch to that instead and that’s what I’ve been using since with success.

Hopefully it’s something similar in your case and you find a solution for your pup :)

As stated by ‘repose’... use Pepcid, regular, nothing flavored, 5mg per meal.

I was thinking the speed he ate it might be a problem because he eats it ridiculously quick lol, finished his dinner in about 2 minutes

I had a look at Pepcid and in England you need a prescription to get it, is there any other alternatives?

My dog regurgitates most mornings ever since she was switched to raw and I don't worry about it, but I guess it's a good idea to give famotidine. I'm not sure which proteins she's better with, as I'm always switching, but she is better with some.

I can get that Kirkland acid control from Costco, how much mg do you give per meal?

Lately I haven't been giving Honey any fish oil, even though I think it balances out the Omega 6 fatty acids she gets from her frozen raw, and she hasn't been throwing up as much. I give her hemp seed oil, but it's not as complete as fish oil since it doesn't have DHA, just EPA.
