Hi! I'm new to this forum as well as the Frenchie world! Diesel is our first French Bulldog. I've had Boxers for the past 17 years and adore them as well. Diesel is 4 and a half months old and we absolutely adore this little guy!
Two days ago we noticed his little forehead was swelling. I gave him half of a benadryl thinking it might be an allergic reaction to something. It didn't work. Yesterday we took him to the vet. They took xrays to make sure nothing was broken. The vet isn't sure what it is. He can barely breathe through his tiny little nose from all the swelling. He's still eating, drinking, and going to the potty like usual.
The vet put him on anti inflammatories and an antibiotic. The swelling hasn't really subsided and it's been over a day now. I was hoping it would go down at least a little bit!
I've been searching the web for any info and can't find anything. Its breaking my heart! So, I'm reaching out to you all for some input.

I would probably get a second opinion and have more tests run.

I would give him prednisone or prednisolone 1 mg/kg once daily for 1 week then taper off over 2nd week. And diphenhydramine 2-4 mg/kg every 8-12 hours. I wouldn't have given an anti inflammatory or antibiotic.

Well, I took him back to the vet today. He has two abscesses. She was able to drain the one that is higher up on his forehead. The other one is right above his nose, between his eyes. He wasn't having that lmao! Soooo, to drain that one and to completely clean both of them up, we are taking him Monday. He will be sedated.

She withdrew 5 mL of infection from that first abscess. He can now breathe through his nose again!! I'm so relieved! We just can't figure out what caused the abscesses. I have a feeling something happened while playing with the big dogs. So now, I'm watching them like a hawk!

So glad they figured it out... poor fella! Heal quickly buddy

Keep us posted

Good news ! I guess he did need the antibiotics, since it's an infection, and which I assume will still continue for a while, but I wouldn't have given an anti inflammatory unless he was in a lot of pain. I was thinking he had an allergic reaction. Don't forget to keep him on probiotics while he's on the antibiotic and for a couple of weeks after.

Thank you! I completely forgot about a probiotic!
His course of antibiotics of 14 days...ugh! But, it's okay! As long as it helps him get better!

Thank you everyone for your kind words! Its definitely heartwarming! My little Diesel "truck" is on his road to recovery!
